lobal dtp, ltd. off ers professional desktop publishing and media services to the localization industry and mainly specializes in multilingual publishing solutions for localization companies and translation agencies.

Global DTP strives to provide extensive documentation and multimedia services and support for its customers, varying from simple desktop publishing jobs to complex projects.

Since 2003 we have been delivering high-quality cost-eff ective services for our customers worldwide. Given our extensive experience of the localisation industry and knowledge of the pre-press and publishing industries, our team of highly motivated professionals will gladly undertake any project requirement you may have.

At the end of the production cycle you will receive:

DOCUMENT PREPARATION FOR TRANSLATIONPreparing documents into a format understandable by machine translation tools.

We use Trados S-Tagger, Story Collectors and Copyfl ow tools to extract text from various DTP applications into fi les that can be easily translated in Microsoft Word, Trados tools or any other CAT tools.

This phase of preparation may also include various types of work on the source documentation, such as content fi xing and tuning up, to ease and speed up the post-translation process.

SCREEN CAPTURE, BITMAP AND VECTOR ART EDITINGLocalisation of the source artScreen capture—performed on the localised operating system with the relevant software installed. Taken screen shots are inserted into the localised documents. Bitmap and vector art editing—illustrations are manually localised with the supplied translation to ease and speed up the post-translation process.

VIDEO AND FLASH LOCALISATIONLive content, demo presentation, e-learningOur team of professionals can handle simple as well as complex Flash editing, localisation, testing, scripting, and sound/voice sync to best match the localised product to the source.

Regarding video localisation we are able to record or capture any e-learning, presentation and demo videos to maintain functionality as well as look and feel of the source material. This task will include capture, editing, syncing and mastering amongst others.

We always use the newest video and fl ash technology and applications.

TEMPLATE AND DOCUMENT DESIGNDesign of various types of technical documentationIf your company is looking for a new and eff ective single-sourcing technical documentation solution, then this task off ers the best choice. With this solution you maintain only one document source and get many output formats, such as printer-ready postscript, online PDF or HTML, or compiled HTML Help outputs.

DOCUMENT TYPESETTING AND LAYOUTCreation of source documents where only a hard copy or un-editable document is available.

This task includes: re-working the documents into an editable computer format, layout preparation, text recognition, graphic scans and tune-up so that the document looks precisely the same as the original. Such documents can be localised and processed.

INDEPENDENT QUALITY ASSURANCELocalisation of the source artTo verify that online or printed material is delivered with the highest quality and precision.

Quality Assurance has always been a part of our standard production cycle. We are also off ering it as a standalone task.

w ur client sends a request. Based on the information supplied global dtp evaluates the source material and prepares an estimate. The request is registered into our planning.

Supplied fi les and information are examined by a Project Manager. We are then able to determine the time and work scope necessary for the production and costs based on our experience. The client issues preliminary purchase order to confi rm the work scope. Our analysis could also reveal possible issues that would be encountered during the production. Any possible issues are always discussed with the client.

Some projects are received at a stage before translation. Source fi les need to be prepared for translators. We analyze supplied fi les, check with the client what exactly needs to be localized and prepare translation kit. Body texts, graphics, special text fragments are all gathered together for translation.

A project in production is assigned to a Project Manager. He or she is responsible for successful and timely execution of project workfl ow, communicates with the client and assigns individual project tasks to our staff .

Translated fi les are processed in DTP 1 stage. Depending on the form of expected feedback from the client, DTP 1 stage can be either full or draft DTP.

If the client intends to implement fi rst language feedback into his TM database and to send us newly translated fi les, we just do draft DTP to allow translators to perform their language review. Full DTP is moved to second stage.

Full DTP consists of application of language specifi cations and DTP rules on the project documents by a DTP operator. Language specifi cations can be either supplied by the client in project instructions or general rules available. Reviewed documents are printed to fi nal format and compared to source fi nal or reference output in detail. After this format check, fi les are handed over our internal QA. Files are prepared for client’s review after internal QA.

The client proceeds with language and DTP review in one or two rounds. All comments are implemented by a DTP operator, the implementation is checked by independent reviewer. The output is sent to the client for approval. Other feedback or document updates follow similar process.

Once the fi les are approved for fi nal delivery by the client and no further changes are expected, fi nal output is prepared and all project fi les are delivered to the client. Project Manager then reports to the client the fi nal costs on the project and receives fi nal PO.

Final delivery can be followed by discussion with the client about the project specifi cs to optimize the process in the future.
