Associated Student Government
In the Fall 2011, the Associated Student Government (ASG) added a 15th position on the Executive Cabinet for a student representative from the Round Rock Campus. We are currently seeking a Round Rock student to fill the position. The Associated Student Government acts as the voice for every Bobcat. The Senate consists of sixty senators that represent the on-campus, off-campus and academic college constituency.
The responsibilities of the RRC Liaison include: must be enrolled in at least one class at the Round Rock campus, commit to two long semesters, represent the RRC student body at ASG functions, meetings, etc., attend required meetings in San Marcos, be available to RRC students and collect feedback, suggestions, praise, etc., remain in communication with ASG officers and RRC staff members, and attend RRC events as schedule allows. This position will provide valuable leadership experience that will truly enhance your resume. ASG meetings are open to all students.
For more information about ASG at the Round Rock Campus, visit: http://www.rrc.txstate.edu/current/ASG.html. If you are interested in this leadership position, contact Jill Seidenberger, [email protected].

The Student Nursing Organization (SNO) is a professional organization that allows nursing students to enhance their community involvement and professional development. SNO at Texas State is a nationally recognized chapter of National Student Nursing Association (NSNA) and Texas Student Nursing Association (TSNA). The new SNO officers of 2015 are revamping the organization by providing fun events for members all year long. From serving dinner to the Texas Baptist Children’s home, to resume workshops, to running in community 5ks, SNO offers a variety of fun, interactive opportunities for its members. Meetings are the 2nd Wednesday every month. Each meeting will host a guest speaker from different fields of nursing: Flight nurse, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Room, Hospice, and more! We will even have the flight nurse land the helicopter at the school! I encourage Juniors to sign up so they can be part of such an exciting year. If you would like additional information about
SNO, email Katie Pritchett at [email protected].

Attention Nursing Mothers:
THANK YOU, RRC from Jill Seidenberger
Dear RRC Faculty, Staff, and Students,
My personal THANK YOU for the wonderful and rewarding opportunity to work in Student Services. I truly love my job and am so very thankful for all of the individuals – faculty, staff, and students, I have worked with since 2008 as we have worked together to make a difference in the lives of so many individuals pursuing educational goals. Thus, it is bitter sweet to inform you of my resignation. My last day is Friday, August 1. My fiancé was accepted to Graduate School and after our August wedding, we will be moving out of state to pursue his educational goal.
Please know that the Round Rock Campus will always remain very near and dear to me.
With a thankful heart,
Jill Seidenberger

Lunch and Learn “Picture This!
Tips for Great Shots!
It’s 1:30 a.m: You’re at your desk — a huge energy drink can precariously perched on the shortest stack of books and articles — with 456 words or 19 more algebra problems to go. Our advice? Go to bed, whether that’s a mattress, bunk or futon, and sleep. At this point your biological clock, the one that says you think better at night, is lying to you. The idea that “you work better under pressure” is a commonly held misconception. It really means that when you’re under a deadline, you work because you no longer have an option to do otherwise. You’re unlikely to do better work; you’re tired, stressed and have no room for error. Working too close to deadlines also means not having a chance to problem solve if something goes wrong or if you have trouble with a concept. Even if you do think best in the wee hours during the regular semester, summer school classes are held every day — days when you used to be sleeping after pulling an all-nighter.
Time in summer school is unrelenting. Falling behind on your sleep, your studies or your communications with professors is even more destructive than during fall or spring semesters. Because of the pace of summer semesters, you have no time to catch up on missed work — or missed sleep.
Dredge up self-discipline to take care of your body, to make yourself read or study earlier in the day, to prepare for exams, and to e-mail or talk with your professors about final tests and papers, including the invisible professors in your
online courses. Check TRACS or Bobcat Mail regularly, each day, and several times some days.
Good luck with your summer classes at Texas State Round Rock Campus! Find more study tips here.
