--Counselors' Tip--Kids & Social Media

Our students today are socializing through texting, online social media sties and blogs. Often, the comments made outside of school through technology carry over into the students' relationships at school. We will be talking with the students about internet safety during our next Counseling Unit, but we thought we would share a few tips with you. (brought to you by OnGuardOnline.gov... )

‚ Remind Kids That Online Actions Have Consequences. The words kids write and the images they post have consequences offline.‚ Tell Kids to Limit What They Share.‚ Encourage Online Manners.‚ Limit Access to Your Kids’ Profiles if they have social networking sites or blogs.‚ Talk to Kids About What They’re Doing Online.
