Over 20 companies from Australia, Bangladesh, Myanmar,
Mongolia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, New Zealand, China,
Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand attended the HIMOINSA 2013
Asia Pacific Sales Convention, held from 23 to 27 September at
the multinational enterprise’s headquarters in Spain.
HIMONISA take advantage of the event to unveil its growth outlook
for Asia in the coming years. The company currently distributes its
products in more than 20 countries of Asia-Pacific through a well-
organised distributor network.
The distributors of HIMOINSA in Asia-Pacific, were able to
gain insight into the company’s metal treatment and generator
assembly facilities in Spain. According to HIMOINSA’s China
Managing Director, Manuel Inglés, “Our distributors in Asia-
Pacific visited our headquarters in Spain mainly to see where we
began and for us to show them our production capacity and the
human element that make us a multinational”. Inglés went on to
say that many of the company’s Asia-Pacific customers “ask for
special European-made products and these types of visits give full
visibility into where the product is manufactured and what type
of technological mechanisms are used in the production process”.
HIMOINSA Executive Director Francisco Gracia considers Asia-
Pacific was a key market, representing around 20% of the group’s
total sales at present. HIMONSA currently has operations in more
than 20 countries in Asia, including Mongolia, Korea, Bangladesh,
Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore,
Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Nueva
Zealand, Russia , China, Japan, Myanmar, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
During the convention, Marco Perillo, Sales and Marketing Manager
of HIMOINSA in Asia-Pacific, noted that many markets, such as
the Philippines and Myanmar, are growing rapidly. “Myanmar
recently opened up to international trade and HIMOINSA is
supplying generating sets, or gensets, for some of the country’s
main projects”, he said, adding that “HIMOINSA services clients
requiring power solutions for the start up of special projects
designed by a skilled engineering team that meet even the most
stringent project requirements, such as those in the Data Center
sector”.
HIMOINSA in Asia-Pacific
HIMOINSA first penetrated the Asia-Pacific market 15 years ago. It
set up its first plant in China in 2005 to service this market directly.
“HIMOINSA’s production process has evolved since the company
was founded. The company currently offers a broad array of the
gensets, with power ranging from 5kw to 2500kw”, explained
Manuel Inglés. He focused on the manufacture of lighting towers,
where “there have been important breakthroughs lately, above all
in the mining industry. A number of countries, such as Australia,
Mongolia and Indonesia, are focusing heavily on this business at
present”.

“More than 5,000 HIMOINSA gensets for
the telecoms industry in Indonesia”
In the Philippines, the power multinational has added three new companies to
its list of distributors with which it has begun working recently, mainly in the
construction sector. “In addition to growing in markets such as Australia and
New Zealand, HIMONISA now has operations in the Indonesian market, mainly
in the telecoms sector, for which it has sold more than 5,000 gentsets in the
last three years”, said Perillo.

“HIMOINSA’s eight production centres are
interrelated”
HIMOINSA is an international company, with eight production centres located
around the world and “while each production plant services its geographic market,
they are all closely interrelated; the network setup allows each production centre
to feed off the rest”. This is why HIMOINSA China’s management team felt the
need to bring its Asia-Pacific distributors on a visit to the company’s headquarters
in Spain.
HIMOINSA’s international expansion policy and status as a vertical
manufacturer have positioned the company as one of the top four
genset makers in the world. This was confirmed by the company’s
distributors in Asia-Pacific after their visit to HIMOINSA’s more than
100,000m² of facilities in Spain. “I would single out HIMOINSA’s
commercial prowess and how the company has changed over the
past 10 years thanks to its ambitious export strategy,” said Murray
Pollok, Editor of the rental industry magazine, International Rental
News, during his tour of the metal processing and treatment
plant. Pollok is convinced that HIMOINSA’s success lies in its
flexible and vertical manufacturing system and the company’s
ability to gain a foothold in the world’s main regions. “HIMOINSA
is a young company that has grown quickly thanks to its solid and
clear commercial strategy,” he concluded.

“HIMOINSA’s gas generators have a
power range of 8KW to 3.4MW”
Natural gas has become a cheap, efficient and clean energy source that is growing inexorably across the globe. With a full range of gas generators, from 8kW to 3.4MW, HIMOINSA offers solutions to any type of application, either continuous or emergency power supply using a variety of fuels, such as natural gas, LPB, biogas, well gas and syngas. All HIMOINSA’s gas generators are ‘plug & play’; i.e. they are equipped with all the serial regulation and safety components, so the generator adapts to the clients’ facility and not the other way around.

What is HIMONSA’s current situation?
HIMOINSA is a multinational enterprise with over 30 years
of experience and 1,000 employees around the world. Its 8
production centres and 11 subsidiaries are spread out over
300,000m2 of premises in all five continents. With annual
sales of US$300 million, HIMOINSA’s core business is
the manufacture of generating sets, ranging from 3kVA to
3,000kVA, and lighting towers to meet the power demands
of the international market.
What is HIMOINSA’s positioning in the world?
The company divides the international market up into five
regions; EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), NORTH
AMERICA, LATAM (Latin America), INDIA and ASIA-PACIFIC.
HIMONISA currently gets half of its sales in EMEA, 30% in
the two Americas (North America and Latam) and 20% in
Asia-Pacific + India.
The company operates in both stand-by and prime power.
However, due to international power demands, some 70%
of our production targets emergency power, with 30% of
our gensets designed for continuous power supply.
Why is Asia-Pacific an important market for
HIMOINSA?
Asia-Pacific is an extremely important market because it has
grown sharply over the past decade. Moreover, this market
is constantly changing. In countries like China and Indonesia,
the rental market is just starting to grow, while sectors like
stand-by are becoming an important market niche.
HIMOINSA has been operating in Asia-Pacific since 1999,
so it now has nearly 15 years of experience. This is a highly
competitive market, with is a large number of manufacturers.
However, HIMOINSA, which has already built up a solid
reputation, aims to reinforce its position there by offer a
quality and affordable product that enables it to compete in
the various Asian markets.
Our China plant is similar to our headquarters in Spain.
The plant is heavily robot-controlled and uses cutting-edge
genset manufacturing technology. The components used in
the production process in Asia-Pacific are identical to the
ones used at the plants in Europe, India, North America and
Latam.
What are the company’s latest short-term
projects?
HIMONSA’s philosophy is to grow and expand internationally.
Example include the start-up in 2014 of a new production
centre in Brazil and the establishment of a new commercial
subsidiary in the UK. This will give HIMOINSA production
centres in China, Spain, India, France, Brazil and the US,
and commercial subsidiaries in Singapore, Dubai, Italy,
Germany, the UK, Poland, Portugal, Panama, Mexico,
Angola, the Dominican Republic and Argentina. Moreover,
the distributor network gives the company a presence in
more than 120 countries.
