    FEBRUARY 197^

"Your Father knows what you need, before you ask Him." Matt. 6i8. And soit was the last of October we received news that we had been sent a checkfor $1000. Bill told me that the Lord had a purpose for that money and immediately I thought that something terrible was about to happen- But thelast part of November we realized why the check had been sent at that particular time. The truck transmission had given us problems earlier and Billhad repaired it the best that he could in Mexico# but during the NationalMissionary Convention in Oklahoma City it got much worse and Bill spent several more hours working on it but couldn't guarantee that it would even lastfor 50 miles.

Our destination was Phoenix but before that we had to go to Las Vegas, andso we had several hundreds of miles to travel yet. Our traveling took asthrough rain and snow but we kept praying that the Lord would see fit to permit us to reach Phoenix with this truck, and so He did.

We then had the choice of major repairs on this 10-year-old truck or thepurchasing of a new one. We were prepared to order a new one but not buy onejust yet, but again the Lord had different plans. We looked for carry-allsin Las Vegas and had my father and brother-in-law looking for them in Phoenix. Finally we found one in Las Vegas that fulfilled most of the specificationsthat we were hoping for. The cost was $4896. We continued on to Phoenix tocheck on our finances and discovered that we were about $1200 short. We madea personal loan and as of this writing owe $1000. If you care to contributetowards the truck just mark your donation "truck fund" and it will be appliedtowards it.

The picture shows our new truck which we are proud of. It is a deep bluein color and seats 9 passengers. (We have had 30 young people in it already). It has an automatic transmission with power steering and power brakes.

Some people have asked us how the gasoline shortage is affecting us here inMexico.^ We are paying 46 cents_ a gallon for an 81 octane rating. The 91octane is 64 cents a gallon. Bill is working at putting propane on the newtruck. We will then pay 32 cents a gallon. hurts-^Pric^ on^gasoline are u;^

  • The 26th National Missionary Convention was areal blessing for both of us. We greatly enjoyedthe fellowship with the 200 missionaries alongwith the many other Christians present. It wasa time of much excitement to listen to ReggieThomas# J. Russell Morse, Max Ward Randall, andTom Thurman, to mention only a few. You will bespiritually uplifted as well as thoroughly informed on missions if you ever have the opportunity to attend a convention. The picture showsour display used at the convention.

    A FAR OUT TRIP

My readers will remember that we have been paying to have the program"Dulces Momentos" broadcast on XEDV, a small radio station on the border ofthe states of Mexico and Michoacan. This station has brought hundreds of responses and thus we have the responsibility and privilege to visit the homesof these people and ask them to give their lives to Christ.

This area is_.located about 80 miles, from Queretaro . ..and_-SO_we__had_ueyerreally been able to devote enough time to calling. But last week Vicente andI went out early in the morning arid spent all day calling. We had planned onspending the night and so when the road we were on ended, we stopped andspent the night there. The next morning we were up before sunrise and on ourway to another visit. The visits of those two days took us over 150 miles ofdirt road, but the responses were wonderful. People received us and the message. We will be visiting there^ain soon so please pray for a great harvest.
