HEALING The Gospels speak about the healing power of Jesus. The crowds marveled at the power that Jesus had - all sorts of sicknesses were cured by Him. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is "the same - yesterday, today and tomorrow" (Heb. 13.8). Certainly that includes Jesus as Healer - He can heal today as He did when He walked the earth. Let us examine some of the questions in healing: Medicine and Faith are not opposed We praise God for having given the human race so many advances in the 21st century. Part of those advances are the advances in the field of medicine. The use of good medical practices is part of normal Christian life. Our Church en-courages her children to make good use of medical knowledge. But medicine is not all-powerful, only the Lord is. Accompany your use of medicine with faith and prayer. For what medicine cannot do, Jesus can. Miracles: one way, not the only way Sometimes Jesus heals miraculously - I have seen people with cancer be completely healed; as well as deformed bones made whole; blind see and deaf hear: It still goes on today! But miraculous healings are not the only way Jesus answers prayers. Sometimes you pray today, and the healing begins, but takes a long time to develop - let God heal in whatever way He wants. Jesus heals all the dimensions of human life In 1 Thess. 5.23, St. Paul says that the human being is "spirit, soul and body". I believe that Jesus can heal any or every part of the human being.

He can heal the spirit: which means He can forgive the deepest sin, and free your inner life from any evil. For that healing, you need to repent of sin and turn to Jesus as your Savior. Those in grievous sin need the Sacra-ment of Penance and Sacramental absolution. He can heal the soul: Jesus can take away fear; calm the troubled; give joy to the depressed; and break the worst psychological addictions. He can heal memories and cure bad habits. Bring yourself into His loving presence.

He can heal the body: Turn to him both for yourself and those you love. Pray with con-fidence, and pray often. The Healing Power of Jesus is released when we pray together Jesus Himself said: "Whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be granted by My Father. For wherever two or three are gathered in My Name, there am I in their midst." (Matt. 18.20) There is power when we pray together. This is one of the reasons why we often bring

Mary and the Saints into our prayer - when they intercede with us, the prayer is more powerful. The Mystery of Suffering I do not understand why we suffer. I cannot penetrate the mystery of all the evils that good people undergo. I know that many faithful people suffer for long years with sicknesses and problems. Jesus Himself suffered. But I do know that He hears prayers. Wake up your faith in Him! Call upon Him with confidence! Do not be discouraged! "Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you!" (Luke 11.9) We serve an All-Powerful Lord!

Jésus Lui-Même a souffert.

¡No te desanimes!
