One Mans Opinion

Part IMuch as I hate to, its time for more talk about street violence. It

seems like everyday I pick the newspaper some young Black Manhas been shot. Everyday, day after day. What happened to the oldfashioned fist fight? Then you had to Man Up or get your butt kicked.Then you were hesitant to mess with somebody bigger and badderthan you. You learned to deal with them another way. Diplomacy, tact, become their friend, steal theirgirlfriend, slash their tires, but NO permanent solution to a temporary problem. It seems that there aretoo many people running around with guns while wearing their feelings and emotions on their sleeves.Ready to shoot someone for not giving them Respect or an argument that keeps escalating becausesomeone is carrying a gun and feels invincible. One solution however improbable, may work; when-ever someone gets convicted of a crime that involves a gun, give them the option, go to jail or join the

armed forces for an equivalent amount of time plus two years. Example: If you were convicted andthe sentence was five years, do the five years in jail or stay in the service for seven years, if you dontmake the seven then go to jail for the original five. Might work, I dont know. No?

How about Chris Rocks solution (and I paraphrase) Let whoever wants to, have a gun, but charge$5000 for a bullet. Any and all bullets. You buy a gun for $600, you pay $5000 each for the bullets.It doesnt matter the size, .22 caliber or super, duper, magnum, Big A bullet, $5000. Each bulletcomes in a leather case trimmed in silver and its engraved with a serial number. You have to sign forand register each bullet and present your ID and leave a fingerprint sample. Then and only then areyou able to purchase one. If you fire one, you must report it immediately to the ATF. If not you will

not be able to purchase anymore until your previous bullet purchase is accounted for. Oh, and ifyoure caught with bootleg or underground, black market bullets...automatic life sentence, no going tothe army, just jail. Who knows might work.
