How to handle a Joomla! Update on your website?
When you work with multiple websites, time spent on updating components can be very well spent doing otherwise. For this reason, one by one all the RSJoomla! extensions have been equipped with the Joomla! default updater feature.
It doesn’t have to be that way!
To harden and protect your Joomla! website, you need to be on top of what is going on in the Joomla! community and most of all on new versions available for your CMS and extensions. An upgrade brought to one of your extensions can significantly heighten the overall productivity of your website.

Are you using the latest secure version of Joomla!?The most important responsibility as a website administrator is to keep everything up-to-date. As a solution, check out the vulnerable extension list provided by Joomla! and update the outdated extensions to keep them in check. Note: Joomla! notifies the admin on his admin home page when an update is needed.
First look in your Joomla! Components section. Tip: You should set up monitoring for your website to make sure everything is working well. Make sure your website is available to your customers by subscribing to a service provider that can monitor your site and give you notices and updates when something isn’t working. For example, such service providers are Watchful and WebSitePulse.

Weather we are talking about a component, module or plugin, updating your Joomla! extensions is easy. All you have to do is access your Joomla! CMS admin page and go to Extensions -> Extensions Manager -> Update, then check the boxes of the extensions you want to upgrade and click “Update”.

3.Don’t gamble with your website! Before you upgrade to a new version, a backup of your site is important to have because there are many things that can happen to your website (an extension malfunction, website hacking) and if something does go wrong, then you can restore it to the earlier version. Bonus tip: Another way you can go about installing your new version is to create a development installation, a separate Joomla! installation where you have all the data of your live site. The idea here is to test the new version on your development installation first, just in case there are any incompatibilities that may affect your website for a time.
