HukvaldyHukvaldy village is located in the Moravian-Silesian region and has
1,889 inhabitants. The village has its origin in the village Sklenov with the first written mention from the year 1294. It is the last purely Lachian village on Lachian-Wallachian
border.

Hukvaldy Castle Hukvaldy Castle was probably built
in the first half of the 13th century. During its existence, due to its
location and massive fortifications, has been probably never conquered. German count of Hückeswagen, the knight Arnold, is considered to be the
founder of Hukvaldy Castle.

Leoš Janáček He was a world-known Czech
composer of classical music and was also an outstanding composer of folk songs. He was born on 3rd July in 1854 in Hukvaldy in a poor family.
All of his operas have still been playing with great success at home as well as abroad. He died of pneumonia
on 12th August in 1928 in Ostrava.
The Cunning Little Vixen
The Cunning Little Vixen is an opera by Leoš Janáček. The opera
incorporates Moravian folk music and rhythms. It is usually described as a comic opera, it has nevertheless been noted to contain a serious
theme.

Game reserve The park belonging to the castle was
founded in 1566. The current park with beautiful avenues of oaks,
chestnuts and lime trees is home of numerous herds of moufflons and
fallow deers.

Museum of tin, Almi Decor shop In the center you can visit an exhibition of old tin containers and
Jurkovič´s room.
Archbishop's palace and garden The castle is now restoring and after repairs there will be accommodation for 50 persons, conference hall, restaurant and
wine bar, which will serve the general public.
Exotic There is seasonal private exhibition of exotic butterflies and
beetles from America, Africa, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea and Europe.
Water mill Mill in Lower Sklenov was founded in the 11th century, the mill
was gradually renovated and extended. It is now out of service.
