My background as an Process Engineer enabled
me to live in Japan for 3 years as a Program
Manager. I met a wonderful woman, Maya, and she
became my wife in 1996. That is when we moved to
Livingston County. We have 3 beautiful children, all
engaged in soccer and focused on academics. We
live in Hartland and enjoy the pool, friends, and
family as well as traveling to Japan giving our
children a rich cultural experience. Maya chose a
stay at home career, so she may devote her time to
positive life developing disciplines for our children.

2000, I worked for Detroit Edison - DTE Energy for
10 years as a Senior Analyst in the Customer
Service Division.
Beth K. O’Hara – Senior Loan Processor
I have lived in Livingston County Michigan since
1979. I started in the Mortgage Business in 1996.
I was a Loan Officer in Brighton, Michigan and
earned National Loan Officer of the Year in 2001,
closing over 30 million in residential mortgage
loans. In 2002, I was promoted to Branch
Manager. In 2002 and 2003 my branch earned
National Branch of the Year, exceeding over 100
million dollars in loan volume.
Gary Halek – Team Manager
After the Mortgage Crisis of 2008 and closure of hundreds of mortgage
companies nationwide, I stepped out of the Mortgage Business. I
worked as a Server at a local restaurant and painted houses to provide
for my family.
As I re-entered the Mortgage Business in 2011, I found that the
mortgage guidelines had changed dramatically, tightening their grip on
qualifying a client. The mortgage process had become an exhausting
experience for the borrowers. I felt my Studies at Michigan State
University in Business Administration would be better served in a
Management role, to assure a smooth and timely process for the client.
I consider my position as Team Manager of the Victor Bals Team crucial
to customer satisfaction and the success of our team . My primary role
is to drive the process to specific timelines, and meeting or exceeding
the objectives of each of our customers. Communication is the key to a
smooth mortgage or home purchase process. To identify potential
pitfalls and develop resolution early in the process ensures a successful
outcome for all partners involved in the transaction.

My travels brought me back to Michigan as I am a true Michigander at heart! I
love the historic culture we are surrounded by throughout the mitten of
music, cars, architecture, and of course it’s natural beauty you cannot get
anywhere else!. Camping, hiking, live music, and pottery are some of my
hobbies I very much enjoy. I come from a big Irish family and couldn’t be
happier for the love and support I have been raised with to achieve all of my
professional and personal goals thus far. The sky is the limit and I have so
many goals and ambitions to look forward to!
I’m able to bring to the table, skills and experience needed to create the most
innovative and productive marketing techniques based on current trends.
With the team having me as a Marketing Director will allow the agents to focus
on the most important part of their job, PROSPECTING! I’m here to help grow
YOUR business!
I am very excited to introduce myself, Monica Miner as
the newest member to the Victor Bals team at Huron
Valley Financial. I have 7+ years in real estate; a BBA
from Eastern Michigan University with a concentration in
Management; and just completed a year of service with
the Americorps VISTA, working at the University of Idaho
as their Service-Learning Director. My experience as a
young professional has allowed me to learn the “old
school” and “new school” ways of the business.
