Vision Statement
Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary,
Mother of the Lord and our Mother.
FUEL COLLECTION. The annual “Fuel Collection” is
now being received. There is an additional envelope in
the church packet that requests your generous contribu-
tion to defray the costs of the parish buildings. Needless
to say, like your own homes, everyone is hit hard during
the winter months. We ask every parishioner to be as
generous as possible so that our parish buildings may re-
main warm and comfortable for everybody. Extra white
“Fuel Collection” envelopes are in the church today for
those who did not receive it in the mail. Thank you for
your help.
DINNER AT SIX FOR SIX. Join our Youth Group in the
school auditorium on the Fridays of March (excluding
Good Friday) for soup and grilled cheese sandwiches on
these Lenten days when we
abstain from meat. The price
is six dollars. The proceeds
from the evenings will help
our young people join Pope
Francis in Panama for World
Youth Day . So join with oth-
ers before the Friday evening
Via Crucis. You can’t forget:
Dinner at Six for Six!
RABBI, IT IS GOOD THAT WE ARE HERE!”
FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN
A big staple at the O’Connor House growing up was Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. They were cheap, filling and
easy to make even for the youngest of the O’Connors! While they were consumed all year round they were definitely a
Lenten must on the menu. Ironically though, the Grilled Cheese Sandwiches I made never saw a grill. I would toast
bread and squish the cheese in between the toast as soon as it came out of the toaster to melt it a bit.
Beginning Friday you have the chance to have authentically grilled Grilled Cheese Sandwiches (I checked with
Fr. Chris) on the Friday evenings of Lent before Stations of the Cross with our Youth Group. Dinner at Six for Six is a
wonderful idea.
First, it draws the community together intergenerationally. Often we talk of the great divide between young and
old. Well, come out Friday at Six and bridge it! Dinner at Six for Six also allows us to pass on the traditional discipline
of abstaining from meat on the Fridays of Lent. Some of the more senior members of the parish might remember when
we abstained from meat throughout the entire year to be in solidarity with Our Lord and His Passion. Today the Church
asks us to abstain from meat on at least the Fridays of Lent. Sadly many people, particularly the younger generations,
are unaware or choose not to follow this beloved tradition and discipline of the Church. The menu of soup and grilled
cheese might get them to ponder the possibilities. Coming out to Dinner at Six for Six on the Fridays of Lent might also
bolster another Friday Lenten tradition: The Stations of the Cross or Via Crucis. Parishioners gather every Friday
evening in our church at 7:30 to walk with Jesus anew as we recall the sufferings He endured during the last moments of
His earthly life. After dinner walk over to the church and find yourself on the Via Dolorosa accompanying Him who
walked that path for you and me. Lastly, proceeds from Dinner at Six for Six will help our young people journey to
Panama to join their peers from the Church around the world united in prayer with Pope Francis.
So I invite you and your family—young and old– to come out to the school auditorium this Friday evening at
Six. Bring your Six dollars and let us rediscover together a journey a called Lent!
Boy! those young people are pretty smart after all, aren’t they?
Blessed Lent!
God Bless!
PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD.
Over the next ten
months you will be in-
vited to pray at home
for more priests. We invite individual parishioners & fami-
lies to sign up to receive a beautiful Good Shepherd statue
into their home for one or two weeks and to pray for
priestly vocations. A prayer kit & activity sheets about vo-
cations will be also given to help you through your prayer
week. At the end of the week, on Saturdays, we ask you to
return the Good Shepherd Statue to the Parish Office so
that it may be handed over to another parishioner and/or
family on Sunday. You may keep the activity sheets for
further prayer and reflection. Please consider signing up
for our Prayer Campaign for Priestly Vocations. Simply
fill in the form below and return it to the Parish Office or in
the collection as soon as possible. Father Chris, Father
O’Connor or a member of the Vocations Committee, will
contact you soon afterwards about all the details. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The Shepherd Speaks
Last Sunday the Liturgy presented Jesus
tempted by Satan in the desert, but victorious
over temptation. In the light of this Gospel, we
are again made aware of our condition as sin-
ners, but also of the victory over evil for those who under-
take the journey of conversion and, like Jesus, want to do
the Father’s will. In this second Sunday of Lent, the
Church points out to us the end of this journey
of conversion, namely participation in the
glory of Christ, which shines on the face of the
obedient Servant, who died and rose for us.

Being Good Neighbors! When coming to Incarnation
please don’t park in, or, obstruct anyone’s
driveway. Also, remember to exit the parish

the considerate and Christian thing to do! It’s
the neighborly thing to do!
