real space through the use of digital interfaces.
These ever-advancing videos are created by those who have
experienced and taken interest in geographical location
Location based videos are factual sources for visitor’s, tourist and
the local public that strive for more historical and informational
facts about the location they are visiting.
The videos are experienced through the Empedia iOS and
android apps, while they visit the locations on your map.
WHAT IS INSIDE OUT ALL ABOUT?
‘INSIDE OUT’ is all about providing visitors to Northampton Parks
a visual tour guide full of:
Facts
images
History
Footage of the parks
And something YOU didn’t know
WHY THE RACE COURSE…
While talking to many Northampton locals it came to our
awareness how much history ‘The Race Course’ has, we found it
was a shame that not many people knew about what and why this
park was used.
During research we also found that ‘The Race Course’ was also
known as the ‘Rape Park’ and no one knows why and how this
also came about.
WHAT’S THE AIM…
So… our aim was then to find out all the tiny little gritty facts, sayings, history and everything the visitors to the park would want to know.And… to present the guide tour using;
location footage, interviews/ dialogue, environmental sound recordings and music where appropriate.
RESEARCH…

n
• The Racecourse is an open space park situated in the center of
Northampton.
• Due to the historical links of the Racecourse to Northampton's history, it
remains one of the town's famous landmarks.
• As referred to in its name, the Racecourse once held regular race meetings.
• These were however stopped in 1904 due to the high number of fatalities
and accidents caused by the close tight racing.
• Since 1632, unofficial race meetings were held at Northampton Heath, the
name given originally to the area including the Racecourse due to its
location.
• By 1882 the land was sold on by the Northampton Corporation Act.
• The park was then used by the public as a general recreation ground still
open to annual race meetings held in spring and autumn.

There are many unfortunate incidents that have turned the much
known racecourse into a Rape Park, the local residents try their
upmost to avoid crossing the park during darker times.
A recent incident involved a footballer is being sought by police
in connection with a sex attack on a teenage woman on the
Racecourse.

POTENTIAL FOR SUCCESS…
There is allot of potential for success in the field we have chosen to
base our project due to the fact that there are many such places that
the public do not know about in Northampton and if they do, they do
not know much about them. Hence this idea has allot of scope, for
example:
Brixworth Country Park
Billing Aquadrome
Abington Park
These are just some of the potential parks we could cover
WHAT WE PERSONALLY AIM TO GET
OUT OF THIS PROJECT…
We aim to increase awareness to the local public, of the parks in
Northampton.
We aim to find interesting facts about the town
To increase confidence, while talking to locals
To manage risk assessments when out shooting
To develop our camera skills and to present our work to a high
quality
AND finally to pass!!!
