STAFF NEWS
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the following staff for their permanent appointments to our school. Mr Nathan Davis was successful at merit selection in gaining the position of classroom teacher. Mrs Judy Anderson was permanently appointed to the position of Aboriginal Education Officer after filling this position in a temporary capacity for over 3 years. Congratulations to both staff members!
PRESCHOOL
Our preschool grounds are currently being transformed into an exciting and engaging play area for the students that includes a bike track and water play area. We have had positive feedback on the transformation to date and we look forward to seeing the final area soon. I am very proud that we can continue to improve all areas of our school for our students.
ATTENDANCE MONTH CELEBRATION
Attendance month has officially finished!. Congratulations to all the students who have qualified for the exciting celebration planned for later this month. Attendance is important during the whole school year and we will continue to focus on improving our attendance at Bonnyrigg Public School.
School Directions and Priorities
Priority 3 – Whole School Well Being
School goals related to Priority 3 are as follows: To review and implement wellbeing strategies and procedures for all stakeholders. Create more opportunities to utilise community voice to contribute to school planning and evaluation procedures. To foster and promote the heritage and welfare of all
cultural groups across the school.
Home Reading
Extra, Extra Read all about it! That’s right. Home reading is
where it’s all happening this year with Ms Gorrie, Miss Theo
and Miss Nhan. Please remember to keep reading! Did you
know? Research shows that learning to read is one of the
most important factors in school success and that an early
exposure to books and stories substantially contributes to
success in early literacy?, Please ensure your child reads
books every single day for homework and/or if in upper
primary, several pages of a novel. Ensure that their home
reading log has been signed after each entry has been
recorded. If your child reads 30 books consecutively and all
have been recorded and signed, then they will be able to join
Miss Nhan and Miss Theo for the home reading celebration
at the end of this term for yummy pizza. Please see your
teacher or one of us if you need a new home reading log!
Regards Miss Theo, Miss Nhan and Ms Gorrie.

COLOUR EXPLOSION FUNDRAISER
What an awesome day we had at the School Run4Fun Colour
Explosion. Thank you to each and everyone of you who
supported the fundraiser – we couldn’t have done it without
you.
Students ran the course that was filled with obstacles such
as a slip ‘n’ slide and a cargo net and were greeted with a
blast of colour from their teachers. All students went home
with a smile on their face and sprayed with colour from head
to toe.
We are excited to announce that we raised $1,500 to go
towards our Stage 3 camp. What an awesome job!
Prizes are on the way so watch out for these shortly. Thanks
again for your support.

ZONE CROSS COUNTRY
32 students from Bonnyrigg Public School proudly
represented their school at the Zone Cross Country carnival
at Joe Broad Oval on the 24th May. Students competed
against schools in our area on either a 2000m or 3000m
track. We had some great results throughout the day, in
particular Ciara Le who finished 8th overall and will now
compete at the Regional Carnival on the 14th June at
Hurlstone Agricultural College.
Great job to all involved and thank you to those parents who
came along to support the fantastic efforts of the students.

CHICKEN COOP
Throughout this term, our stage 3 students have been busy
designing and building a chicken coop. We are now proud to
announce that we have 8 new additions to our coop. Our
chickens have been busy feeding, foraging, sleeping and
laying eggs and all our students have been caring and visiting
them.
If anyone has any empty egg cartons at home could they
please bring them in for our chicken eggs. We plan on
eventually selling these back to the community very soon.
