STEM Room
Thanks to the STEM team’s leadership, the STEM Room has started to be utilised by classes.
This week, the teachers were led in some STEM activities they can use with their classes .
It was a really useful session with many productive planning conversations taking place to engage our students in deep real world learning. Many thanks to the P&C who contributed a significant portion of the funds necessary last year to realise the creation of this magnificent learning space.

Regional Swimming
Congratulations to Ayva, Daniel H, Jasper and Billy who attended the Regional Swimming Carnival on Tuesday. The carnival was held at Maitland pool. The students had a great day and were wonderful representatives of our school.
Attendance Matters
The typical Australian primary school student misses 16 days on average per school year adding up to approximately half a school year by the end of Year 6. For adolescents in high school, the average days missed rises to 24 days per school year or the equivalent to half a term. Studies have found that students from as early as Year 1 exhibit clear school attendance and non-attendance patterns, and these patterns are highly predictive for subsequent schooling years. If non-attendance continues in high school, the effects accumulate and impact on academic and social development. Therefore, there is no safe threshold for absences from school.

Canteen Corner
Since we began online ordering we have received 522 lunch orders via the online system and we have had 224 students register. What a fantastic response! By ordering online it gives the canteen staff more time to plan and prepare. Friday is proving to be a very busy day, today we received 80 online orders as well as over the counter sales. A few extra volunteers would be appreciated, thanks to the Mums who were available to come in today at short notice.

An information note and fundraising booklet have been sent home this week to every student for the COLOUR EXPLOSION FUN RUN. The fun run will be held on Tuesday 7th April. We hope that everyone will be able to help contribute to our fundraising tally. Every child that raises a minimum of $10 is eligible to select a prize. There will also be a prize for the highest
fundraising class as well as the highest fundraising student. Last year we raised $10,000 and we would like to try and beat that.
We are looking for any businesses that may be interested in sponsoring the colour event. We are very greatful to the businesses that have already come on board, emails will be sent to them shortly. $100 will get your company logo on the back of this years souvenir shirt, a place on our advertising banner as well as shout outs on our Facebook page and newsletter. If you are interested in sponsoring our colour event please contact 0401 319 885. An order form for this years souvenir shirt will be sent home very soon.
