DIVINE MERCY PARISH
HAMDEN
Sitting here on Sunday afternoon. For a few days now we
have heard about the coming hurricane, Henri. We were
prepared. People made emergency plans. It was going to be
a big event. Wind, rain, a category 1 hurricane. A direct hit
to New Haven.
Though it did come, most of us were spared the worst. For
those who got hit, things were rough. But for most of us
the preparation left us with a quiet afternoon.
I hope that you relaxed, rested and took things in stride.
I did get caught up on some work that needed to be done,
but really had a relaxing afternoon. Maybe it is a good
thing before the fall busy schedule begins.
Some music is playing in the background. I am considering
things that need to be done and offering a prayer of guid-
ance to the Holy Spirit for the name of our new parish
along with prayers of thanksgiving that the storm was not
so bad for most of us.
Take some time to be quiet every day. It is a gift of the
Lord. “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46
Msgr. Joe
ALPHA
A SPIRITUAL INITIATIVE FOR
HAMDEN PARISHES

hearts of all who are taking the Alpha course.
Congratulations to
Gregory Szkop and Janie Jannitto
on their marriage on August 28th, 2021.
May God bless their married love.
Update on masks in church
Archbishop Blair has asked and recommended that
all people wear masks in church. While this is not a
mandate, it is a strong recommendation. This is for
your safety and the safety of others in church.
Eucharistic Ministers will continue wearing masks
while distributing Holy Communion.
Thank you for wearing masks in church.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
RCIA Beginning Phase
The time of Inquiry
This is the time when much of the instruction takes
place. During this period, which goes until Lent, In-
quirers learn much about the Church and declare their
intention to continue to study about the Catholic faith.
As an inquirer moves ahead, he or she is formally
accepted with the intention to become a member of the
Catholic Church. Inquirers begin to explore Catholic
beliefs, values, prayer, spirit and mission. Throughout
the entire process, questions and concerns are
encouraged and addressed.
St. Rita School Early Learning Center offers
a safe, and nurturing, and stimulating learn-
ing environment for children aged two
months to five years.
