Fight the Winter Blues at NBSC As the days grow shorter, many people find themselves feeling sad. You may feel blue as the holiday festivities end. People tend to experience more serious mood changes that last throughout the fall
and winter because there is less natural sunlight. Researches say that the “winter blues” and a more severe type of depression called seasonal affective disorder, or SAD, has been around for more than 3
decades. Still, much remains unknown about these winter-related shifts in mood.
Winter blues is a general term, not a medical diagnosis. It’s fairly common, and it more mild than serious. What is it about the darkening days that can leave us in the dumps?
And, what can we do it about it?
Well, NBSC can help! Come out and enjoy the many offerings at our center. If there is something that peaks your interest and it is not offered, please let us know. We want to help you combat the Winter Blues!
Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service Project Participation Monday, January 18, 2016
NBSC will again assist at the Annual Day of Service. Ten volunteers will serve breakfast at Girard College, the host site for over 1,800 projects. If you are interested in serving, please
sign up at the registration desk in the receptionist area.

“Time” Many have asked, “What is Time?”
How is it measured? Some may say that time is Money, never to be re-
gained, Well, What do you say?
In the words of others, maybe I can explain, “YOUR TIME IS NOT MY TIME” and
“MY TIME IS MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD” There is no begging, borrowing, nor stealing of Time.
Time is free from obstacles and burdens. A precious moment from within, reflects Time gone
by. SWEET! SWEET! Memories of Time gone are mine.
OH! How I yearn for yesterday, Those Years, Those Days, Those Minutes,
Even Those Split Seconds, have so quickly flown away. Looking back, embracing your smile.
A smile I have longed to see. When long ago in another space and Time.
That once was mine, But Time has launched us far apart.
A fleeting moment of Crisis, Stole you straight from my heart.
TIME! Oh TIME! Where have you gone? Joyce Burton
