Centre News and Events…
• Miss Camila will be going on Maternity Leave in February. Her expected last day at Little Bees is
20th February 2021. We wish her all the best with her delivery and can’t wait to welcome her
bundle of joy.
• Miss Amanda from Bright Stars is also going on maternity leave from Feb/March. She has
introduced us to a new dance teacher Miss Tee who will take over until
Amanda returns in September. Miss Tee has already been visiting the
centre for the last 3 weeks conducting the dance session with Miss
Amanda.
• 4th February - Sri Lanka Independence Day
• 11th February – Celebrate Valentines Day for the 14th
(Children and educators dress in PINK or RED)
• 12th February – Chinese New Year (children and educators can dress in the colour RED or wear
traditional Chinese clothing)
• 16th February – Pancake Day

Healthy Living Information
The Beach Room News (0-2)
After celebrating a fantastic new year, we are back to our daily childcare routine with the new energy.
We appreciate all the parents for their great support for the entire year of 2020.
During this month, we have welcomed lots of lovely new children into our beach room.
Celine, Isla and Oliver have started their new journey during this month, and they seem to be enjoying
themselves with their new peers. In this month we have another new friend name Vedarth, who started
his new journey with little bees.
We also shared our knowledge about the Aboriginal people and their traditions with children by doing
our daily yarning circle. During this activity, we also introduced our peers and educators by singing a
song.
SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICE
We did group activities with the children such as making sensory boards with recycled materials, which
explains to the children the importance of making different projects out of recyclable materials and also
creating an awareness among the children about saving and taking care of our environment and also
to minimize the waste and importance of reusing materials.
We also watered the plants around the centre.
SUN SAFETY
As the weather was getting hot during this month, educators introduced the sun safety programme
which encourages children to apply sunscreen before going out into the outdoor areas and learning to
keep themselves hydrated by drinking more water.
FAMILY TREE
We have also updated our family tree and birthday chart. We would like to appreciate all our parents for
sharing their family photos with us.
HEALTHY EATING PRACTICES
In this month, we encouraged children to learn about healthy eating practices. We have participated in
many various activities such as showing fruits and vegetables flash cards and educating them about the
importance of healthy eating.
AUSTRALIA DAY
We also celebrated Australia day with different activities such as making Australian and Aboriginal flags
with the children’s handprints by using the traditional colours of the flags. This helps the children gain an
understanding about the importance of cultural diversity.
The Farm Room News (2-3) It’s a new start of this year, we would like to say Happy new year and welcome back to all our existing
families at Little bees and to our new families. We hope that everyone enjoyed their Christmas and new
year with their family and friends.
Last year has been a tough year facing fears of the global covid19 pandemic, but we would like to say
thank you to all parents that 100% trusted us for the past year, and we will do our best job to continue to
look after the children, to help them grow strong and healthy.
There are several changes in Farm room
- Staff member arrangement
This year the educators in farm room are Miss Yumi, Miss Myer, Miss Atasi, Miss Michelle and Miss Marissa
(support worker).
- New children start in Farm room
Most of the new children have started in this month and they are doing their best to adjust to new
environment and building relationships with educators and other children.
- Room layout arrangement
We have rearranged all the furniture in both the indoor and outdoor area. Making the environment more
flexible and homelike for the children to explore freely and safely. We've added more greenery into the
outdoor garden area, as part of teaching the children to look after the natural environment with their
love.
Building upon on sense of identity and sense of belonging
- We have located children's photo in their locker, shoe box area and on their bag. Therefore, children
can learn to recognize their own belongings.
- We also made our family tree at the construction corner, looking forward to put all of the children's
family photos on it.
Forming positive relationships
- We have continuously conducted small group experiences, implementing a lot of dance and
movement, singing, storytelling and action games. We sang what's your name song, greeting hello song,
who eating cookies from the cookie jar, purposely for children to memorize each other's name and
building upon on sense of identity and positive relationships towards others.
Toilet training, washing hand procedure
As the children reach the age of 2, children are able to begin to identify their bodily and toileting needs.
This is the perfect age to start toilet training. Half of the children in Farm room are currently toilet training
at the moment. It is ok when they have toilet accident, it's all part of learning and to keep trying as
toileting training takes practice. Giving children enough time for them to process their toileting needs,
they will be able to go to the toilet themselves telling mum and dad proudly I can go to the toilet all by
myself.
The children who hasn't started toilet training yet, parents no need to rush. Getting the timing right is key
to successful toilet training process. Deciding on the right time for your child is an important decision, and
one only you can make.

Teaching children about washing their hands the right way is especially important. Handwashing can
become a lifelong healthy habit if you start teaching it at an early age. Teaching children, the five steps
for handwashing wet, lather, scrub back and front, rinse hands thoroughly and dry and the key times to
wash hands, such as after using the bathroom or before eating. We will continuously teach children to
wash their hands through a variety of daily experiences.
Friendly reminder
-Please bring a proper fitted sheet and blanket for your child to sleep during rest time
( NQF quality area 2.1 children's health)
- Please bring plenty of spare clothing for your child including socks and a pair of shoes (in case shoes
got wet)
- Please put on easy to wear shoes for children to practice putting on their own shoes independently
- Please return all about me form to the educators and bring a family photos for the family tree
The Jungle Room News (3-4)
We would like to welcome the new Children who have joined our Room in the past few weeks. Alicia,

Events:
On the Tuesday 26th was Australia Day, so to celebrate this day the children participated in many
activities.
The children explored their creativity by engaging in making their own Australian Flag.
We watched the Australian Zoo virtual wildlife experience to learn about native animals in regards to
what they eat, habitats and qualities.
We also explore books about Australian animals and flashcards that explain in more detail where we can
locate the native animals around Australia.
Children's Interests:
The children have been exploring many interests around their environment with indoor / outdoor play
such as home corner, puzzles, dancing, zumba, drawing, painting, chalkboard water painting, obstacles
courses, sandpit, bikes, building blocks and man more.
Physical:
The children have been showing great interest towards the dancing experience with Miss Amanda and
Miss T. The children are developing more complex movement skills combining their fine / gross motor
abilities and balance to achieve the different dances.
This year we will be developing on the children's fundamental movement by teaching proper technique
to achieve movement in regard to jumping, galloping, Leaping, hopping, skipping, side sliding, catching,
kicking, under arm throw and over arm throw, This will help the children build on coordination and
balance.
Health:
We will be working on proper hand washing procedure and toiletings steps. Also regularly reminding the
children to drink plenty of water throughout their day.
We will also be doing quiet play experiences during sleep period for the children who don't sleep
throughout the day to relax and recharge their energy.
Social:
In this age group it is important for the children to focus on building their social skills. Educators will be
working towards developing fairness during play and build positive interactions, we are exploring
activities that develop teamwork and communication such as board games, puzzle, ball play and more.
Yarning Circle:
The children have been participating in our Acknowledgement of Country group times and demonstrate
great recognition skills of the poem we read as a group. This teaches the children about respect towards
the Traditional Owners of this Land; the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander; Darug People. The children
have been talking turns leading the group time with the Tapping Sticks.
Environmental:
Jungle Room on the role of Feeding the Fish. This teaches the children about the care of living animals
and to build children's empathy.
We will also be working on planting our own Herb Garden over the next month. The children
will have the opportunity to resource the herbs for ingredients in future cooking experience.
Alphabet:
We will be working on Letter recognition each week throughout the year with a range of experiences,
activities, and play. This is to build a basic understanding around Alphabet before transitioning. We will
not focus on handwriting as of yet as we have children who have just turned 3 and in this age range, it is
important to develop the children's social skills and confidence. For Parent's who would like their children
to develop these skills I have attached a summary report from Parramatta Public School outlining School
Readiness
The Arctic Room News (4-5) Welcome to Arctic room newsletter. It’s a great pleasure to address to our lovely families .First of all , we
would like to welcome Kiaan ,Issa, Vicky, Anika and Katherine to the Arctic room and our educators.
Hoping they will have a wonderful time with us.
The monthly focus was to create a sense of belonging by getting used to the new environment, create
safe and trustworthy relationships with the new educators and also create bonds with new and existing
friends. To facilitate this, the children got to know about their peers by introducing themselves,
decorating friendship chains and creating a friendship tree.
Our Australia day celebration was the highlight of the month. The children were educated about “Why
we celebrate Australia Day“ and they engaged in painting the Australian Flag, Boomerang , games and
making lamingtons and meat pies. Celebrating Australia Day created a sense of belonging and taught
the children to respect diversity.
We started teaching the children the “Days of the week song” , “Alphabet song “ with phonics and they
started writing letters , numbers and asking them to name various words starting with each letter.
To improve the children’s language and communication skills, attention span and create love for books,
the educators had been reading a variety of books throughout the month.
As Physical well-being is paramount in children’s development, the children took part in planned and
spontaneous gross motor development activities in outdoor area.
To promote healthy eating/drinking habits and prepare them for school routine we started our “Crunch
and Sip” program where the children consume a fruit and drink some water around 11 O’clock every
day. Hence the children learned about the food pyramid, focusing on each food group and enjoyed
some healthy cooking during the month.
To prepare our children for big school, we will be starting our school readiness program in next month
and more information will be shared with the parents at the beginning of the month.
We take this opportunity to thank our lovely families who always share feedback and weekend posts
with us. As you all know your inputs are invaluable for us and we always welcome them as it’s a great
way to support the children .
Finally we wish all the best for the children who start Kindergarten this year.
