Respected Media Persons, Guests of this august evening, Parents, dear
Colleagues and my dear children.
At the outset let me welcome you all to our 31st Annual Day
celebration. I take this pleasant opportunity to present the annual report of
our Vidyalaya for 2016-17 citing the outstanding achievements of our
students in various curricular and co-curricular activities envisioned as last
year’s objectives.
The Navodaya Vidyalaya System is a unique experiment unparalleled in
the annals of school education in India and elsewhere. Jawahar Navodaya
Vidyalaya, Koraput was established in the year 1986 in accordance with the
National Policy of Education 1986.
The main objective of the Vidyalaya is to provide Quality Modern
Education predominantly to the rural talented children and to promote
National Integration. It is a co-educational residential institution affiliated to
CBSE, New Delhi and running under Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an
autonomous organization under Ministry of HRD, Department of Education,
Government of India.
At present there are 528 (Boys – 320 & Girls – 208) students in the
Vidyalaya, from Class VI to XII with two Streams i.e. Science and Humanities
at +2 level. There are 27 teaching staff and 19 non-teaching staff in the
Vidyalaya. The Vidyalaya has well equipped Classrooms, Science Labs,
Mathematics Lab, Geography Lab, Computer Lab, Smart Classroom, Resource

room and Library. This Vidyalaya has 50 computers with required software, 2
LCD Projectors, 1 LAPTOP, 29” Colour TV (3 Nos.) with TATA SKY & DISH TV
Connection. Well developed play field with facilities for different games and
sports activities, 16 Station Multi Gym., well furnished dormitories, provision
for free food, textbooks, toilet items, uniforms and bedding materials are
source of attraction for students.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS:
The Vidyalaya atmosphere is very conducive to nurture and nourish the
children’s intrinsic capabilities. The team of my devoted teachers work from
dawn to dusk balancing their style of teaching which caters to the need of
both gifted children as well as supportive learners.
The students have put their consistent efforts in their studies. As an
outcome of such sincere and combined efforts, our Vidyalaya has achieved
94.87% quality results in Class X and 100% in Class XII Science Stream and
94.59% in Humanities Stream in CBSE Exam – 2015-16.
Master Tanmoy Haldar & Kumari Prerana Dash, of Class X were the
toppers by securing 10 CGPA in CBSE examination as well as they have been
awarded certificate of merit for the outstanding performance and obtaining
Grade A1 in all 5 subjects. Master P.Jagat Kumar topped the Science stream
with 470 marks out of 500 with 94.00% and Kumari Susmita Kumar Naik
topped the Humanities stream with 457 marks out of 500 with 91.40% .
Master Om Prakash Subudhi got selected for IIT Guwahati ,Kumari
Sridevi Acharya got selected for Regional Institute of Education, and Master
Kishan Kumar Nag got selected for TIS.

As a part of the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation this Vidyalaya
has conducted 3 Formative Tests and Summative Tests for Non-board Classes
to till date. In all classes the toppers have secured more than 90% in
aggregate.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
Besides academics achievements our students have participated and
brought laurels to the Vidyalaya in various competitions organized by the
NVS and other organizations. The Vidyalaya believes that there is an
underlying link between a child’s academic pursuits and other pursuits such
as Literary, Scientific, Games and Sports, performing and fine art tuned with
development of leadership skills.

HINDI PAKHWADA
Hindi Pakhwada was celebrated from 14th Sept. to 28th Sept. – 2016
with the message of Honorable Prime Minister, HRD Minister and
Commissioner (NVS) to encourage and involve all the staff members and
students to use Hindi as Rashtrabhasa.
GAMES & SPORTS
As the saying goes that the sound mind lives in a sound body,
adequate care is taken for the development of sports & sportsman spirit.
Throughout the year a number of Intra-Mural Competitions like Kho – Kho,
Kabaddi, Chess, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basket Ball, Carom, Cricket etc. are
held in order to promote self confidence among the students. In the Cluster
Level Games & Sports Meet of NVS – 2016, 45 Boys & 9 Girls participated in
different Games and Sports activities and 18 Boys and 11 Girls were selected
for Regional Meet – 2015. Among them 6 Boys participated in National
Meet conducted by NVS. Two of our students were selected for SGFI meet.

DRILL COMPETITION -2016
In Annual Training Camp was conducted on 16.07.2016 at Badabharandi
and 10 students got 1st position in drill competition and one student got
1st position in Song Competition.
PARAB 2016 : - It was the first time in the history of JNV Koraput when a
team of 20 students presented a spectacular dance show Titled
“Dasavatar” in the folk and cultural festival organized by the Dist
authorities titled PARAB-2016 and were appreciated by all for exhibiting
the dance show like a professional artists.
SCOUTS AND GUIDES
The Scouts wing is being run under the guidance of Mr. A.K.Dalei,
Scouts Master with 32 Scouts and the guides wing is being run under
Mrs. J.R.Majhi, Guide Captain with 32 Guides. Scouts and Guides are
trained for different level examinations and to build national character.
This year 4 students of this Vidyalaya, Abinash Chattoi, Abhilash
Pattanaik, Amrita Ray and Richa Rani Devi are being sent for National
Adventure Camp at Panchamari.Around 16 Scouts and Guides was sent
to training camp held at JNV Nabarangpur.
NSS
The Vidyalaya has been a part of N.S.S wing since 2010 under the
guidance of Mr. A. K. Dalei (TGT- Social Science). Throughout the year
the N.S.S unit of the Vidyalaya tries to keep the campus & adjacent

villages clean & healthy.The volunteers adopted many activities for
developing the nearby village Landiguda & the road to NH-26.
During Youth Week, Vigilance week & Voters day the Volunteers,
students & staff participated in the rally.
NCC
A Jr. NCC Wing was opened in the Vidyalaya in the academic
session 2011-12. Now with 50 Cadets our NCC Wing is running under 13
Odisha battalion of NCC Nabarangpur, under the guidance of Mr.
R.P.Maharana, Care Taker Officer. In the month of January 2015 cadets
of our school participated in the Annual training camp held at
Nabarangpur.
ICT
We have well equipped computer lab with 40 Computers. There
is also a smart lab with all modern teaching gadgets like modem,
Laptop, OHP Projector, LCD projector, 29 inch Colour television with
Tata sky connection to facilitate ICT based teaching learning process.
All laboratories, Staff room, Library and office are provided with
computer and LAN connectivity. But unfortunately we are not able to
provide uninterrupted internet connection despite our best effort to
negotiate with BSNL and other service providers.
JNVST
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test is conducted
every year at All India Level by CBSE for admission of students in Class
VI. This year JNV, Koraput registered 4491 Candidates.

Other Activities
1. Math week “GANIT” was celebrated in the Vidyalaya with
programmes like Maths Exhibition, Origami competition and Maths
Quiz.
2. Ekta Diwas was also celebrated with Poster and Essay Competition
and rally was organized at Koraput along with Kendriya Vidyalaya,
Koraput.
3. A number of competitions like Book Cover Making, Book Review,
Poster and Elocution were organized in the school to
commemorate National Book week from 14th November to 21st
November. Story books were donated to the District Prisoners and
Koraput orphanage by students of Class XII and Class X respectively.
4. National youth week was celebrated on 12th January 2016 with
different competition like Quiz programme, Skit and poster making
etc.
5. Under Swacchh Bharat Abhiyan and the entire year 2015, various
programme such as classroom cleanliness, campus cleaning, clean
drinking water, clean toilet and power point presentation on Health
and Hygine was organized. As well as Swacch Ambassadors among
the students were appointed and their activities were uploaded in
the CBSE website.
6. Communal Harmony week was also celebrated and students
participated in various competitions organized by the Regional
office as well as Guide girls and Scout Boys sold Communal
Harmony flags and the amount was sent to the Ministry.

PACE SETTING ACTIVITIES:
Navodaya Vidyalaya being a pace setting institution has
undertaken following activities during 2015-16.
1. Mass Plantation in and around the campus on the eve of Van
Mahotsav Week.
2. A poster competition was organized on 20.08.2015 on the occasion
of Sadbhawana Diwas & Akshaya Urja Diwas.
3. Observed Aids Day on 1st December 2015 to create Aids awareness
among the people of nearby villages through Rally and Street play.
4. A spot painting competition was organized on 14th of December on
the occasion National Energy Day.
5. National Days and Festivals have been observed in much pomp and
grandeur.
6. Campaign for detection of blood group of the people of nearby
village was also arranged
7. A Pulse Polio Programme was organized at Landiguda village under
the guidance of District Health Services.
8. In National educational day a skit was presented at the government
secondary school, OMP Line, Koraput as well as pamphlets prepared
by students on the importance of education were distributed among
the school children.
9. Under Swatchha Bharat Abhiyan dustbins were installed in the
nearby villages of Gauda Sahi, Landguda and Landiguda Primary
school.

TRAINING PROGRAMMES
To keep abreast with the fast changing methods and techniques
taking place in the field of education Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has
been periodically organizing various training courses for our staff.
Besides Samiti, our Vidyalaya has also organized Training Programme on
Adolescence Education Programme and Quality Improvement in
Teaching for all teachers.
In 2015, we also organized a workshop in Art in Education
where children were trained in creative writing, art and folk dance for
“Dal Khai” Sambalpuri dance. And the same group also represented the
school at National Integration Meet held at Bhopal.
MIGRATION POLICY:
Navodaya Vidyalaya has the distinction of being the only
Vidyalaya which exchanges 30% of its Class IX students in between Hindi
speaking and non-Hindi speaking states for one year which encourages
cultural exchange promoting National Integration. This Vidyalaya has
such a programme with JNV, Gumla, Jharkhand.
HOUSE SYSTEM:
The House System is an integral part of Navodaya Vidyalaya. It
helps a lot for the emotional, social, psychological and spiritual
development of child. Co-existence and co-operative living is the motto
of the House System. We are having four different houses, viz. Aravali,
Nilgiri, Siwalik and Udaygiri-the names of the hill ranges which stand
high in the four corners of our country, bound together suggesting our
children to be so.
MESS SYSTEM:
The Vidyalaya is having a well equipped dining hall with required
number of skilled staff to prepare and provide nutritious food to the

children. The Samiti has appointed a Catering Asst. with required
professional degree for effective management of the mess. The mess
runs under the supervision of mess committee comprising of Principal,
Vice Principal/Senior Most Teacher, Housemasters, Staff Nurse and
students representatives.
PTC :
Effective functioning of residential system like our JNV depends on
active involvement of parents and their representatives. A Parent
Teacher Council is operative in the Vidyalaya comprising of 15 Parent
members and 05 Teacher members for better functioning of the
Vidyalaya. With the active participation of PTC members and parents, a
number of developmental activities have been taken up in the school.
2014-2015 the PTC members were kind enough to construct an
additional class room with a cost of Rs. 50,000. This year the PTC
member donated 2 mobile phones for Junior and Senior Girls house to
ensure girl students will have privacy and freedom.
The Vidyalaya is progressing well with the patronage and timely
guidance and help from the Hon’ble Collector and District Magistrate,
the Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee and the Deputy
Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners, NVS, RO, Bhopal and good
cooperation of local Officer, Public Representatives, PTC Members,
Parents and local people.
With a prayer for good wishes from you all I express my
wholehearted thanks to our distinguished guests, parents and other
members present on this auspicious occasion.
