Article –The article itself is the goal of the writer, everything in the magazine is used to try to persuade the reader to read the article. This page has is article on one side and has it set up in a typical style of articles, in columns. They have also split the article into sections of questions they asked Frank and made them into sub headings for the article. They showed this by making them bigger than the text, bolder and capitalised. The writer starts off with an introduction written by themselves and then quote directly from frank after each question for the rest of the article. This shows that it was an interview which would entice the readers as they would want to know exactly what Frank said. The text is very small and not capitalised so make it clear that this is the main body of the article. The style of the interview and article, from the writers paragraph and the questions, is very casual and not serious, it often uses expletives showing that it isn't a very serious magazine. It also shows what the age range is. The expletives used in this magazine obviously isn’t suitable for young children but the older generation wouldn't enjoy it either. So it is aimed at teenagers and young adults who are also they age range that are likely to be interested in this genre of music.Section title/logo –As seen on the contents page, this magazine is split into sections. On this double page spread, it clearly shows that it is in the news section. It has a the news title or logo in the top left corner and it shows that this is their ‘big story’. By placing this here, the reader has a better understanding of what they are reading.

Sub heading -The sub heading is there to give further explanation to the heading and entice people to read the article. In this example it is much smaller than the heading but it is still quite large compared to the article text. It isn't in a bold font, just a simple capitalised one that is clear and easy to read. This fits with the theme of every letter in the magazine being capitalised except for the articles themselves. This is to entice and excite people to read the articles. Only the name of the artist is in bold in the sub heading as he is the most important part of the story. It is also I white to match with the colour scheme of the magazine and with the colour scheme of that page with is white writing and yellow accessories. By following a colour scheme, the page looks neater, professional and thought out.Heading –The heading is there to show what the article is about. It is often short, snappy, witty and doesn't give much explanation. It is there to grab readers attention so it is big and bold. ‘Kerrang’ has put their heading and sub heading on one page with the article on the other page. Their heading is very large, taking up half of the page, and gets larger with every line. Its three lines, the first being fairly large and white, the next is larger and white and finally the last line is one word ‘wolf’ (which is linked to frank carter, who the article is about, as he has been called the wolf before and has wolf tattoos). It is also in yellow font and is the largest size, this makes it stand out and it the first thing people will notice.

Image –The image is the background for the entire double page spread which shows that they think this image is extremely important. The image is of Frank Carter performing to a larger crowd at one of his recent gigs which supports and goes with the article which is about him and his new album. The text is in the sky of the image and fits around Frank yet the heading is layered over the crowds hands, showing that frank is the main focus. This image entices people to read the article as it shows people really enjoying his performance and it shows that a lot of people are there for him. This makes the reader recognise how Frank Carter is a big deal and makes them want to know why people are enjoying it so much so they read the article.

Photo credit – vertically along the side of the page, is a reference to who took the photograph. The point of this is to give credit to the photographer although it is in very small white font and isn't noticeable which shows that the magazine doesn't necessarily care about it and doesn't think its important but know they have to because it’s a legal requirement to give credit.

Issue number –The point of an issue number is identification and doesn't mean a lot to the customer so it is also often small and out of the way. This magazine has repeated the issue number in the top right corner of the page, along with the date. It may have decided to do this as to save space and keep it neat. Some people may take interest in what issue they have as they may collect all of them.

Date –The reader would only be interested in the date to ensure they are reading an up to date issue. The date on each page of this magazine was very small and simple so the magazine has chosen to repeat it on every page. On article pages it is small and neatly put in the corner of the page border.

Page number –The page number is only there so for reference from the contents and so that people can find a certain article or page easier. This is why it is only small but neat in the bottom right of the page. Its with the name of the magazine on every page which just promotes the brand.

Quote from artist –The quote from the artist is usually taken straight from the article and is there to entice readers. It is larger than the text and is placed very close to it. It capitalised again, just like the rest of the writing and is in white, bold font to grab readers attention. The name of the artist is also placed in smaller yellow font below it to ensure people know it is a quote directly from him. Knowing that the artist himself spoke to the magazine or said something about the article helps to show the reader that the information given in the article is legitimate and not just made up for a story.

Page border – The page border is just there to keep the page neat and keep a theme running. In this magazine, they have yellow and black stripes down the side of the page which runs with the yellow colour scheme and portrays a ‘dangerous’ atmosphere as it is linked with hazard tape. Along the top and bottom of the page is a very thing white line which ensures that none of the article goes over it and isn't too close to the edge when printing. The top of the news logo runs along this line and the only thing outside of the lines is the page number which is small. These borders frame the page and ensure everything is included and nothing is cut from printing.
