Wishes about the present (p.269)

Meaning of the wish• I am not rich, but I want to

be rich now.

• I do not have much time, but I want more free time now.

• I cannot touch-type, but I want to be able to touch type now.

Form of the wish= I wish I were rich. (US: I wish I was rich)

= I wish I had more free time.

= I wish I could touch-type.

Wishes about the past (p.269)

want (impossibly) to have been rich then.
