DIRT & Student feedback
• When marking, ask questions to provoke student engagement in improving their work in red pen
• Allow time for students to answer the questions – and ask you further questions in green pen
• Allow proofreading time before work is handed in to check SPAG

'Magic 3' for literacy in every subject
• 1. HIGH QUALITY ORACY: Insist on academic language and high quality grammar in spoken responses as well as written answers.
• 2. STUDENTS AS EXPERTS IN THE LANGUAGE OF YOUR SUBJECT: Set key word spelling tests regularly in your subject. Stretch high ability with high level vocabulary challenges
• 3. PROOFREADING & DIRT TIME: Allow 5 mins proofreading time to check SPAG for written tasks *before* work handed in. Include SPAG and vocab/key word improvement as part of DIRT time.
