Unfortunately, a direct result of infrastructure improvements is work zone accidents, which take the lives of construction workers and motorists.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 101 fatal occupational injuries at road construction sites in 2008 alone. In 2007, 831 workers and motorists were killed in highway work zones and more than 40,000 were injured.

Workers, pedestrians, and vehicles can travel between the gaps when traditional delineation devices are utilized. An LCD will keep workers and equipment within the boundary of the work zone and pedestrians and vehicles out.

Vehicles can travel between the gaps when traditional delineation devices are utilized. These vehicles are traveling in the work zone. An LCD can keep vehicles out of the work zone.

Traditional delineation devices can be quite confusing. LCDs can provide a clear path of delineation.

Traditional delineators are easily displaced by weather. During seasonal weather LCD's are a better choice as they are not so easily displaced. This work zone is a potential liability to the owner and contractor.

This application has not allowed for the lateral deflection of the barrier and, if impacted, the barrier and the vehicle will fall into the excavation. Extremely hazardous to the motoring public and a huge liability to the owner and contractor.

Snow fence is not an MUTCD compliant delineator. It is concealing the delineator, the reflective material, and partially concealing the equipment in the roadway. Very hazardous at night.
