    3 Hurt as Car Skids In Snow and Hits Pole

    Mechanicville—An ear ly , morn ing car accident on the Saratoga Sprlngs-Broadalbin Road in which three Rivers ide residents suffered | slight injuries, was reported to local police a t 7:30 a.m. yester-day.

    According to the report a car owned and operated by Pasco LaPietro, 104 West St., skidded in wet snow about 27 miles west of Saratoga Spr ings and crashed into a pole. The driver Buffered bruises about the neck and right

    Mechanicville Schools, Library to Be Closed

    Mechanicville — The Mechanic-ville public schools will close Wed-nesday a t 3:30 p.m. for the Thanks-giving vacat ion. Classes will be resumed Monday at 9 a.m. The L. B. Blakeman Public l ibrary will be closed.-for the same period.

    Former Elnora Resident Ig Honored at Shower

    Mechanicville — Mrs. Victor Knoworski, Mayfair, Schenectady, Was given a surprise s tork shower Saturday night by Mrs. Angelo D'Alola and Mrs. Pe te r Izzo a t Mrs. D'Alola's home in St. Main St.

    The home was decorated in p ink and blue. Mrs, Knoworski is t h e former Miss Anna Belott, E lnora .

    Games and cards were played, prizes going to Mrs. Pe te r Izzo a n d Mrs. Louis VanChance, this city, and Miss Amelia Knoworski , Am-sterdam.

    Miss Pat r ic ia Kilirain, H e r k i m e r and Mrs. Joseph D'Aloia. this city, sang several solos. Following t he enter ta inment , a buffet luncheon was served.     Mechanicville—Miss Anne Saba-tino, N. Third Ave., was given a var ie ty shower Fr iday night by Mrs. Florence Orton and Mrs. Rus-sell VanValkenburg, a t the home of Mrs. Orton, N. Sixth Ave. Miss Sabatino's mar r iage to John Con-ley, Hemst ree t Park, will t ake place Dec. 1.

    The home was decorated in fall colors and cut flowers. Games were played, prizes going to Mrs. Leota Grimley, Miss Adeline Saba-tino, Miss Mary Conley, |Mrs. John Shields, Mrs. Virginia F i tzpa t r ick and Mrs. Anna Moore.

    More than 30 guests were pres-ent. Luncheon was served. A large bridal cake was the tab le centerpiece.-

    Aliens Asked to Register Before Christmas Rush

    Mechanicville—Miss Ella Hickey, postmaster, today urged unregis-tered aliens to comply with t h e registrat ion law a t the earliest pos-sible time, lest the holiday rush a t the postoffice make impossible ade-quate consideration of applicat ions.

    Miss Hickey announced up to Saturday, 540 a r ea aliens registered and submitted to f ingerprint ing. She est imated approximately 100 aliens in the a r ea have failed to register. ?

    Dec. 26 is the final date for com-plying with the law. Fai lure or re-fusal to register, or, in the case of a guardian of minors, failure to apply for thei r registrat ion, is punishable by a fine up to $1,000, six months ' imprisonment , or both.
