Inspired by Sadie’s favorite movie, The Notebook, and the wedding she envisioned in a dream, the Broussard’s invitations are exquisite. Complete with quotes from special movie scenes, this stationary choice is a wonderful way to make a statement with your guests before they ever step foot at the event.
The reception was filled with the Broussard’s personal style, especially in the vintage milk glass vases that adorned guest tables and accented areas around the venue. Details like these truly brought Sadie’s inspiration to life by including décor true the era represented in The Notebook.
Instead of floral boutonnieres, Sadie incorporated handmade hearts for her groom as well as the groomsmen, ushers, and immediate family. This simple detail speaks volumes when it comes to the distinct style of their celebration.
Guests were never unsure of where to go since the wedding and ceremony were clearly marked with sings made for the occasion. Complete with movie quotes and handy direction arrows, this functional art is something that every bride can add to her inspiration board.

After arriving at a family birthday celebration in August, I asked my sister to take a picture of Trayton and I. She told me she wanted to take the picture outside because the weather was pretty and the gazebo outside would be nice in the picture. I followed suit and went outside and when Trayton got outside he had a bag with him, which I figured was my birthday present. When I opened it I saw that there was a notebook inside. After reading the first few pages, I started tearing up. He wrote about all the things he loved about me and how he never wanted to lose me. Then he got on one knee and proposed! I said Yes! After I said yes, he told me to turn the page in the notebook and read the next page. Here is where I found out that he had been quite busy booking vendors for our wedding. He even picked the date, March 3, 2012. He booked the venue, wedding planner, photographer, and band! Half of the stress of planning was already taken care of! Best of all, the whole proposal was captured on camera. The Notebook was on display at the reception for our guest to read and enjoy pictures from the proposal.
Proposal Story:
The endless custom details are what make this wedding exceptional. A one of a kind banner that brings together The Notebook, Sadie’s love for the color pink, and her theme of hearts throughout the event unite all of the design elements seamlessly.
In addition to the traditional wedding cake, the reception toted the splendor of treats provided by DC Cupcakes. Not only were the cupcakes delicious, they added to the overall sense of style and theme of the reception. Details like these kept the wedding guests in awe all night long!
A Little High Strung
Bite Sized Bliss
Who says that your flower arrangements have to be in vases? This jaw dropping display is a focal point that will not soon be forgotten. Only a couple as happy as Sadie and Trayton could outshine the star power of this phenomenal aerial arrangement.
The Broussards were able to produce the wedding of their dreams while remaining the ultimate team mates. Trayton was highly involved in the planning process, and with the help of family, friends, and skilled professionals, gave Sadie the wedding she could only imagine. Their unique proposal story and attention to style and details has certainly earned them a fabulous feature layout!
Flying Florals
What We Love
TraditionOne of the most recognizable staples
of a wedding is the bride’s bouquet. in
fact, next to the dress, the flowers are
probably the most looked at element of
any wedding celebration. it is no wonder
that brides spend countless hours
deciding what blooms and colors they
will choose for their own bouquet. But
like many other traditions, i found myself
wondering where all the fuss started?
After doing a little research, i found the
answers i was looking for, and was not
at all surprised at what i learned. if you
have followed any of our other tradition
breakdowns, you have figured out that
many customs are fueled by ancient
fears of evil spirits. Well the bridal
bouquet is no different! its origins date
back to the first wedding ceremonies in
ancient Greece and Rome where brides
wore garlands around their necks and in
their hair consisting of spices and garlic.
The odors from these items would keep
the spirits at bay and allow the couple
to begin a pure and happy marriage.
Apart from warding off evil spirits, the
spices conveniently covered up the
smells of the couple themselves, who
unfortunately did not have the luxuries
of modern day plumbing!
Over time, the garlands and hair
pieces turned into hand held bouquets.
Different cultures added their own spins
to the bouquet, and this, like all traditions,
evolved. But we can thank good old
Queen Victoria for updating the bridal
bouquet along with many of our other
recognizable wedding traditions. She
carried an arrangement made mainly of
flowers, each chosen for their individual
meaning. Though Queen Victoria did
modernize most elements, she still
included dill in her flowers, known as
the herb of lust, which was eaten by the
couple at the reception!
We have certainly come a long way from
walking down the aisle with clumps of
garlic, which would most likely compete
with the pricey perfume we are wearing.
So have fun when choosing the blooms
for your unique bouquet. This is an
element that can express your distinct
personality. Be bold and don’t look back!
Bridal Bouquet
BREAKDOWN
A much more modern custom is that of
the ribbon bouquet. Tradition dictates
that the bows from gifts received by the
bride at her shower are fashioned into
a bouquet for the rehearsal before the
wedding. in most cases, the Maid of
Honor should execute this task and bring
the arrangement to the rehearsal. The
bouquet itself represents the generosity
of your family and friends who have
stood by you during your engagement.
it can also serve as a reminder that
those people are there “holding your
hand” as you walk down the aisle to your
husband-to-be.
As i attempted to tackle my own ribbon
bouquet, i realized that this task was
not as easy as i assumed. After trial and
error and finally an extensive Google
search, i can say that with the help of
my adorable dad, my ribbon rehearsal
bouquet is complete! i hope that this
illustrated how-to helps you achieve
the picture perfect ribbon rehearsal
bouquet too.
