Roles
The primary roles of the corps are to conduct offensive or defensive operations with or without infantrysupport and to provide armor protection to the infantry and other support and services units.
There are 2 types of armored regiments, cavalry regiment and tank regiment. Each armored regiment hasan integral armor workshop attached from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps. Thereis also a mounted squadron for sovereign ceremonial purpose.
Cavalry Regiment
Cavalry regiment is a light armor regiment and intended to provide reconnaissance for division levelformation. For this reason, the choice of vehicle is leaning toward mobility over firepower and armorhence favoring wheeled armored vehicles. Each armored regiment contains 3 combat squadrons, 1 HQsquadron and 1 support squadron. There are 3 combat troops, 1 HQ troop and 1 support troop in asquadron. Each troop consists of 4 APCs and 2 AFV.
Tank Regiment
Tank regiment is a heavy armor regiment and intended to provide support to and co-operate with theinfantry in a conflict. A regular tank regiment usually has strength of 48 tanks. The smallest unit in atank regiment is a troop. Each troop consists of 4 tanks and 2 APCs. Each APC can carry 8 soldiers.

Three troops make up a squadron and four squadrons forms a tank regiment. With the introduction ofMBT and combine arms tactic, the 2 APC in each troop may be dropped in favor of deployment inconjunction with the mechanized infantry units.

Ceremonial Mounted Squadron (Skuadron Istiadat Berkuda - SIB) provides ceremonial guard duties atthe National Palace and ceremonial sovereign's escort to the King. Ceremonial horses are from maleWielkopolski and female Wielpolska breeds from Poland, and Selle Francais breed from France. Horsesuse to pull the Royal carriage are from the Cob breed.

raised position would serve as rallying mark when the vehicle is in the hull down or turret down position.The pennant carries the squadron color and call sign. Regimental officers allowed to use these pennantsare commanding officers, deputy commanding officers, squadron leaders, adjutant, assistant squadronleaders and troop leaders. Symbol and Name on A Vehicles
Apart from the Vehicle Tactical Insignia, the color and insignia of the corps is also painted on both leftand right side of the turret. Famous names, if available, would also be painted below the symbol. Thefirst letter of the names denotes the original squadron of the vehicle.

Training Center
Armored warfare training is conducted in Armor Training Center or Pusat Latihan Armor (PULAMOR)situated at Sebatang Karah Camp in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. According to 9th Malaysian Plan,the training center will be moved to Syed Sirajuddin Camp in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan.
