Okay, you’ve joined the Chamber, you’ve attended a couple of meetings, and now you are wondering what else is out there to do. But before you can even think about your next steps, day to day business rears its head and you are busy ordering food for a meeting you are having, office supplies for your sales team, and trying to figure out a printing vendor for your next customer mailing.
All important things to do, but…. did you consider the Membership Directory at the top of our home page? We used to print a hard copy directory, but it went out of date the day after we printed it. Today we update our online directory with every member that joins, giving you great access to fellow Chamber members who, like you, are invested in the East Metro business community and who want to earn your business.
From restaurants to facility rentals, from printers to manufacturers, our members cover every aspect of your business. Look them up, give them a call, and start the conversation by telling them that as a fellow Saint Paul Area Chamber member you’d like to give them a shot at your business. Knowing our members, I think it is safe to say that you’ll get a positive reaction.
You can go anywhere for your business partners, but why not start by asking your fellow Chamber members. No special favors, everyone has to earn their way into your business, but you’ll find that Chamber members have a special affinity for each other and are proud to find ways to do business together.

Mall of America first opened its doors on August 11, 1992, and has become a destination for everything from local shopping trips to family vacations. This year, the Mall will celebrate 20 years of fun with many special events planned throughout the year.
Mall of America kicked off its 20th anniversary year by hosting a live broadcast of Twin Cities Live on KSTP to the Rotunda where one lucky guest won $5,000 from Publisher’s Clearing House. The show featured several segments about Mall of America including the 20 top moments in Mall of America history.
Following the excitement of the 20th Anniversary kick off, Mall of America opened the award-winning exhibit Diana, A Celebration on the fourth floor. On loan from Althorp Estate, the Spencer family’s 500-year-old ancestral home, the exhibition chronicles the life and work of one of the most remarkable women of her time – Diana, Princess of Wales. It contains 150 objects throughout nine galleries, ranging from Princess Diana’s royal wedding gown and 28 of her designer dresses to family heirlooms, jewelry, personal
mementos, items representing her abundant charity work, paintings and rare home movies and photos. The exhibit will remain at Mall of America until June 10 when it will then travel back to its home in England.

Nickelodeon Universe is also sharing in the 20th Anniversary excitement at Mall of America by taking the thrill to the next level with the addition of two new rides: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock and Dutchman’s Deck Anchor.
Shell Shock is the first ride of its kind in the United States and puts the adventure in guests’ hands as they control their experience from take-off to landing. Scheduled to debut in March 2012, it will take riders 70 feet in the air in a matter of seconds reaching up to 25 mph. With 12 single bucket seats at the end of a cantilevered arm that rotates around a central tower, the ride is a thrill-seekers dream. Each guest will control their seat which can rotate wildly like a plane propeller or a gentle teeter-totter like a see-saw making no two ride experiences the same. The attraction is based on the highly-anticipated all-new CG-animated television series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which will premiere on Nickelodeon later this year.
The Dutchman’s Deck Anchor drop is a set up two intertwining stainless steel spiral tube system that guests can slide down. The slides are connected to the Flying Dutchman Ghostly Gangplank Adventure Ropes Course and drop from 56 and 35 ft. in the air. Both of the new cutting-edge attractions are guaranteed to give fans the ride of their lives and will add even more screams of excitement to Nickelodeon Universe.
Be sure to visit www.mallofamerica.com to stay updated on the latest 20th Anniversary events Mall of America has in store. We hope you can help celebrate our 20 years of fun with us and look forward to the many more years of fun we hope to bring to guests near and far.

Q. How long have you been an Ambassador?
A. Team Cosmo has been part of Cosmopolitan Apartments for nearly 11 years, Chamber members about 10 years and Ambassadors for 6 very exciting months. It is an opportunity that we really coveted and actively sought to obtain. Our current team started working together nearly 16 years ago, from the beginning we had a shared goal to provide a “home” for our residents, and a passion for getting involved in our community, including community service.
Being Chamber Ambassadors came naturally for us, where we can help foster the growth of Saint Paul business and educate the local businesses on the benefits of belonging to the Chamber.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being a Chamber member?
A. The networking opportunities and all the connections we have made with other Chamber members. We are honored to have the opportunity to share Saint Paul with so many people.
Ambassador of the Month

Q. What is one piece of advice you would offer fellow members?
A. Get involved with the Chamber today! The Saint Paul Area Chamber is a highly effective organization with a broad range of events, for every commitment level. We encourage members who envision more for their organization to contact a Chamber employee or Ambassador. The more you attend and network, the better it will work for your organization. As Ambassadors we will meet you at the event and introduce you to other Chamber members. We have made incredible personal and corporate connections in our short time as ambassadors.
Q. Fun tidbit?
A. Cosmopolitan Apartments, home to more than 350 residents, has won many industry awards including the MN Multi-Housing Award for Best in Community Service for the state of MN. In addition, our installation display piece that was displayed outside of the Chamber offices won a MADACS marketing award.
One of our shiniest moments was when the Cosmopolitan was home to many of the production crew & cast member for the Prairie Home Companion movie filmed in downtown Saint Paul in 2006. Not only did our staff get to be extras in this Robert Altman production, Cosmopolitan Apartments was also listed in the credits at the end of the movie! We were guests of the cast and crew at the Hollywood Premier, the Director’s Wrap Party, and the Producer’s Daily Preview, where we met Kevin Kline, Garrison Keillor, Woody Harrelson, Robert Altman, Tommy Lee Jones, Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, and Lindsay Lohan.
Our Ambassador Committee plays a vital role in ensuring a fantastic member experience. The team is comprised of committed and engaged SPACC members dedicated to attending events, ribbon cuttings, and reaching out to members via phone and personal visits. Interested in joining the team? Contact Mindee via [email protected] // 651.265.2779!
