Programmatic Status

• Project is preparing for the Mission Concept Review scheduled for August 6/7 at JPL

• Science Definition Team report issued July 9; will lead to an Instrument Announcement of Opportunity (AO) in September ‘13.

Implementation Status

• Staffing: Key positions have been staffed - - very significant flight project experience with key MSL leadership included

• Budget: Working with NASA to secure up front funding required to implement the high heritage approach that forms the basis of the project’s implementation plan

• Sole Source Procurements: Completed sole source justification for ~20 major MSL subcontractors involving ~35 separate contracts.

• MSL Residual Hardware: Logged and formally transferred most MSL residual hardware to Mars 2020

• At-Risk Parts/Components. Project has initiated procurements of parts and key components that are at-risk of obsolescence
