On Mother’s Day, May 10, 1970, the Cen-
tennial Anniversary of Maternity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary Parish was cele-
brated. Cardinal John Krol presided. Dur-
ing those 100 years, our Parish has moth-
ered five neighboring Parishes: Resurrec-
tion of Our Lord, St. Matthew, St. Jerome,
St. Christopher and St. Albert the Great.
Msgr. John O’Neill arrived in Bustleton
at a time when our buildings were burst-
ing at the seams, and he brought practical
corrective measures. In July 1976, Msgr.
O’Neill, retired and resided in our Parish
until his death on February 27, 1996.

Twenty-First Sunday
in Ordinary Time
We must work to enter
through the narrow gate,
so that we might be judged
worthy of entering
into Eternal Life.
Jesus teaches in the Gospel that we are to
strive to enter through the narrow gate, that
we might be judged worthy of sharing eternal
life in Heaven. By this, He means we must
endeavor to travel lightly, unencumbered by
attachments to things of this world. This will
allow us to keep our eyes firmly fixed on Je-
sus, and our feet planted on the path of salva-
tion.
