Three Way Reporting
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet with your child and his/her teacher
during Three Way Reporting over the last few weeks of this term. Please be on the lookout for your invitation that all class
teachers are now sending home to parents and carers. Three Way Reporting is such a valuable meeting where you and
your child meet with the teacher and together
discuss your child’s progress so far. You will
then work on setting learning goals to help
him/her achieve their goal. Please don’t miss
this valuable opportunity.
National day against Bullying
This Friday is the National Day Against Bullying. All state schools in Queensland have joined the day as a positive way to discuss
bullying in their school
communities. The Bullying No Way
website has heaps of great activities, videos
and resources for teachers, children and
families. We will also use this week to look
at our own COOL Rules approach to bullying
here in our community. It is very important that we BE SAFE, RESPONSIBLE and RESPECTFUL when dealing with bullying type
situations.
From Friday we will work together to build our consistent COOL Rules way of dealing with bullying.

Year 6 Camp
Best of luck to our year
6 students as they head off on camp this
Wednesday. We know you will have a great
time and receive plenty of compliments by using
the COOL Rules.
Attendance – Congratulations! There are so many classes working towards a goal of 100%
attendance. The standout classes for Week 6 was 3A with 94%. Week 7 Attendance was a bit disappointing with NO classes at
94%. Prep C and 5C were on 93%. Congratulations!!
Clean Up Australia Day
Last Friday 2 March, the whole school spent some time straight after morning tea break to follow Rocky's 'cool rule'. Well done
everyone - our grounds look amazing!

Student Banking Volunteers Each Friday, banking booklets are processed for students. At the
moment, we have volunteers that offer their time to do this and we are looking for another volunteer to help in this area. It takes
approximately 1 hr to do this job and training is provided. If you
think this might be you, please leave your name at the office. Thank you!
Oral Language
At Walkervale State School, Oral Language is an important part of Literacy teaching across the school. Oral Language is being
able to speak and understand what is said. The graph below shows how important the partnership between home and school
is. Every child needs a rich oral language environment at home right from birth as their brain develops. From birth to 6 years is
when the sensing, language and thinking functions develop the most; this is when we can nourish the brain by talking to, singing
with, reading to and playing with our children. Read regularly with your young child, play rhyming games, sing nursery rhymes
and songs. Talk about what is outside when driving. These
simple yet important actions play a great role in the brain development of every child and cannot be underestimated.
