Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice be-cause you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.
The Tennessee Real Estate Commission approved proposed rules at their regu-larly scheduled meeting conducted on December 5, 2018. These rules were filed with the Secretary of State on August 5, 2019 and will become effective on No-vember 3, 2019. These rules have been filed as Proposed Rules and will be promulgated without a hearing ninety (90) days from the filing date unless a petition is received by at least ten (10) persons who will be affected by the rule.
The proposed rules eliminate and reduce certain licensing fees. Specifically, the proposed rules reduce the original license fee from $100.00 to $90.00 and the renewal license fee from $80.00 to $75.00. In addition, the proposed rules eliminate fees for change of firm address, name change, duplicate licenses, commission manual, certified copy fees, printouts of licensee information, and printout of licensee information fees. Also, the initial $10.00 fee that is deposit-ed into the real estate commission education and recovery account is reduced to $1.00. Furthermore, the proposed rules revise the language for the handling of bad checks to comport with state law. Lastly, the proposed rules reduce all edu-cational course application fees by at least half.
A full copy of these rules can be viewed online at https://publications.tnsosfiles.com/rules_filings/08-03-19.pdf .

The National Association of REALTORS® created the Commitment to Excellence
program to encourage the professional development of REALTORS® by utilizing a
multifaceted approach aimed at offering opportunities for continuing education and
professional growth. A member’s Commitment to Excellence is a continual practice,
and a lifelong commitment to superior professionalism and providing first-rate cus-
tomer service.
The Commitment to Excellence Program is defined by eleven competencies which
indicate a REALTOR®’s commitment to ethics, advocacy, technology, data privacy,
outstanding customer service, and much more. Each competency is tied to tasks
and learning modules which are preceded by a Skills Assessment. These assess-
ments offer each REALTOR® the opportunity to receive a comprehensive identifica-
tion of skills that measure a REALTOR®’s proficiency in the related C2EX compe-
tency.

Have you done your fair share to help us reach our
RPAC goals for 2019. We are 66 participants short of
our participation goal, and $24,000.00 short of our
financial goal. If you know and appreciate the role
RPAC plays in advocating for property rights and pro-
tecting our profession as REALTORS, perhaps you
would consider making an investment or increasing
your investment to keep the REALTOR party strong.
You can make your investment on-line at MTAR.org, by
attending one of our RPAC events or by making an in-
vestment next time you are at the association office.
Following our Hall of Fame luncheon last week we are
closer to achieving our 2019 goal. Please do your part to
help us achieve success.
