Vicom Migration Process – MigrationBest Practice – Windows Boot LUN Migration1. Update HBA BIOS, if needed. 2. Connect Server HBA to destination SAN (if source SAN is different from destination
SAN). Zone (FC) server HBA and destination storage ports together. Configure LUN masking so that server can access LUNs from the destination storage.
3. If there are multiple paths to destination storage, connect only one path and temporarily disconnect all other paths.
4. Configure HBA BIOS setting such that HBA can recognize boot LUN from destination storage (by WWPN).
5. Bring-up server; boot from destination storage.6. Install proper multipath driver (Snap Drive) for the destination storage, then shutdown
the server.7. Reconnect all other paths to the destination storage, and bring-up the system again.8. Run chkdisk to verify the file system.9. Examine log files (system, application) for errors and warnings.10. Start applications and verify user data.
