New Hope News September 15,2015
Our modern world is fascinating and on occasion is frightening. To be hu-man is to be caught up in moments of anxiety, uncertainty and fear. This simple truth has been underlined, at least for me, as a principle of daily life. On one of our adventurous journeys to the port of Houston the journey required us to check direc-tions and even further to explore the information on MapQuest. As we arrived at our destination we were confronted with those little fears and doubts as the where we were suppose to go, where do we park, which line is for express passengers and which is for normal folks.
FEAR NOT ILLNESS…. This place of
CARE, LOVE and HOPE IS FOR YOU”
Fortunately, we managed through out the journey to follow directions to get us where we wanted and needed to go. We all need direction and guidance and, at times, to be reminded of the words of 1st John. “The perfect love of God casts out fear” (1John 4:18) Those simple words can have dramatic impact upon each of us.
This message appears over the entrance of the Little Rock Children’s Hospital. Does this not also re-flect the message of God to all his created human beings? Is this not also the message of the Church of Jesus Christ? New Hope Christian Church offers assistance in moving toward a better life. We follow our Lord who said, “Fear not.” His church (NHCC) serves as a channel through which we may have wholeness, worth, and life abundant. Be assured that this place (NHCC) of care is for you. Jesus teaches that each one is important and that we all minister to one another. Be assured that this place of love is for you. Jesus teaches, “A disciple will lay down his life for a friend.” He surrendered His life on the cross. Sharing in the life of New Hope Christian Church is to be circled by many who will give you their life in caring, concern, and fellowship. Be assured that this place of hope is for you. There is no other way which holds the assurance of abundant and eternal life. Jesus said, “But I came to bring them life, and far more life than be-fore.” (Jn. 10:10) Do you believe that? Then you can join others who are seeking a higher way of re-placing fears with FAITH. Bring your praise and prayers and proclaim…”Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine...Ours...and Savior of the WORLD! See you Sunday as we take a faith-walk together.

Annual
Ladies of the Evening CWF
Fundraiser Luncheon
On Sunday, September 13th, New Hope hosted a fellowship luncheon with a Hawaiian theme. The fellow-
ship hall never looked more festive. There were lots of decorations hanging from the ceiling and palm trees
and bright colored floral table dressings. A menu of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and all the trimmings
was provided with a nice assortment of side dishes and desserts. The focal point of the buffet was the palm
tree centerpiece that was made from pineapples that display a variety of fresh sliced fruit.. There were prizes
for participation and a limbo contest for those who felt they were up to the challenge as well as a photo
booth to create a lasting memory. The success of the day would be credited to Cherry Duran, Roxanne Walk-
er and their committee for their careful planning of the décor and activities. Also to everyone who dressed in
their Hawaiian outfits and wore the leis all through church to set the mood and participated in the activities
of the day. Special thanks to New Hope's "grill masters", Joe Duran, Mike Cain and Jack Branson
and everyone who brought a dish or dessert as well as those who helped to clean up after the event. Every-
one seemed to truly enjoy the food, fun and fellowship. What a wonderful day!

C.R.O.P Walk 2:00p.m.
Sunday, October 18th
Walk if you can—if you can’t walk, then sponsor a walker. In the last 25 years, CROP Hunger Walks have raised more than $300 million to help people struggling to feed their families—both around the world and around the corner. In fact, 25 percent of the funds raised by CROP Hunger walks benefit the communities where they take place by support-ing local food banks, pantries, community gardens and other hunger-fighting initiatives.
Pulpit Guest On Sunday, September 20th, New Hope
will be blessed to hear a powerful and thought
provoking message presented by Sandy Mo-
yers. Most of us recognize Sandy as the voice
on the other end of the line when calling the
church. But, Sandy is also a Licensed Minister
in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
She is a member of Del City Christian Church
and is active in virtually every area of church
life... serving as Chair of the Elders and is pre-
paring to serve as Board Chair beginning in
2016.
