Objectives
Pedagogy
The key objectives of the programme are to develop:
• Contour Mapping and appreciation of business realities
• Holistic business perspective
• Global sensitivity and mindset
• Capability to create wealth
• Thirst for competitive advantage
• Pursuit for transformation; and
• Desire for performance excellence.
Teaching is based on recent research materials and experience gathered from around the world. The pedagogy of the programme is highly interactive. It envisages substantial participation and action learning. Teaching methods include lectures, cases, seminars,
evaluation is in terms of letter grades. Participants are required to achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average in each term, as well as a minimum letter grade in each course. The overall performance in the programme would also include the evaluation of the project work/ dissertation. The dissertatio/project report has to be submitted within 3 months of completion of courses, otherwise the candidate shall stand debarred from the programme.
One should complete all component of NMP within a period of two years from the date of start of the batch.
Participants who successfully complete the Programme are awarded the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM).
A. Prime Minister's Medal - awarded for the best overall performance in the programme
B. Finance Minister's Medal - awarded for the best performance in the finance elective courses
C. The Department of Personnel, Government of India Medal - awarded for the best performance in the HRM elective courses
D. ITC Medal - awarded for the best performance in marketing elective courses
Assistance will be provided for placements of self-sponsored candidates.

The emphasis is on involving participants to make learning participant-centric and help them relate the concepts, ideas and theories to their own experience. Consistent with recent advances in training technology, the programme integrates the use of computers with learning of basic principles in different functional areas.
A lot of work is assigned to the participants in small groups. This provides an opportunity to examine a problem collectively and to learn from each other's experiences. The group learning activities can be broadly classified into two categories:
• Group assignments/submission with presentations and case analysis as part of course work
• Group tasks in learning by doing
These exercises emphasize on getting things done and are included as part of course work.
After completion of 12 months course at MDI, participants are given international exposure for a period of 45 days in European Business Schools, where they undergo 3 credit courses.
Participants are evaluated on a continuous basis with quizzes, assignments, tests and examinations. There is a final examination at the end of each term. Course

• Sponsored candidates have to forward their Applications through the respective organizations
• All sponsored candidates are required to take MDI Admission Test to be held sometime in February 2009 at various examination centres
• GD/Personal interview will be held at MDI Campus on a Sunday in the last week of February 2009. The list of selected candidates for final offer of admission (in order of merit) would be sent to the respective sponsors by the first week of March, 2009
• Applicants must purchase the CAT Bulletin as per
MDI uses CAT for short listing the candidates for its
programmes. IIMs have no role either in the
selection process or in conducting the programme.
MDI application forms along with prospectus will be available for sale from 18th August 2008 to 12th November 2008 on payment of Rs. 1600/- in cash at MDI and other designated counters or through mail by sending a demand draft for Rs.1750/- in favour of 'Management Development Institute', payable at New Delhi.

Candidates must send a demand draft (DD) for Rs. 1750/- in favour of 'Management Development Institute', payable at New Delhi, on or before 5th November 2008. The candidate should write clearly the details of the programme applied for, his/her phone number & address, his/her CAT Registration number on the reverse side of the DD.
Candidates who have appeared for the CAT (2008) would be short listed on the basis of the details in the application form and the CAT scores. Only the short listed candidates will then be called for Group Discussion and Interview during the last week of February 2009 at MDI Campus, Gurgaon.
Foreign/NRI applicants can be considered for admission on the basis of their valid GMAT scores (taken not later than October, 2008). MDI application form can be purchased by furnishing a Demand Draft for US $100 or Rs. 4,500/- in cash. Candidates wanting the application form through mail will have to send a demand draft of US $ 100 or Rs. 4,550/-. The filled in application form along with valid GMAT score card (attested copy) should reach MDI on or before 14th November 2008 at the address given above.

If the applicants are short listed on the basis of their GMAT score, they may have to take another written test and attend an interview at their own cost at Gurgaon (India).
NRI Applicants who are residing in India during the period of admission process i.e. July-December, 2008 will have to appear for the CAT and will not be considered for admission on the basis of their valid GMAT scores.
Admission Offer
Successful candidates will be intimated of their final selection in February 2009. The selected candidates must pay the first installment of fees by 1st March 2009; failing which their seat would be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list, without any further intimation.
