practice following graduation ◇ Supervised by experienced Nutritional Therapy Mentors
Nutritional Therapy Clinical Practice
Clinical Practice 3
The overall aim of NT Year 3 is to facilitate students in consolidating the knowledge, skills and competencies they developed in NT Year 1 and 2 so that they develop into safe, competent and confident Nutritional Therapists. To achieve this, students are given opportunity to conduct 6 consultations with members of the public, including follow-ups and monitoring client progress. Students are then provided with the opportunity to create a thorough and creative business plan which will prepare them to start a NT business.
Students reflect on the Nutritional Therapy code of ethics and legal requirements and develop a business plan for review.

Clinical Practice 4

How it worksIHS developed the IHS Nutritional Consultation Framework which includes specific action steps and associated paperwork. The framework is broken down into 5 stages, students are introduced and assessed on Stages 1-3 in NT Year 1 and Stages 4-5 in NT Year 2. In NTCP3, students are given opportunity to conduct full live consultations with members of the public using this framework as a support. They are also encouraged to find there own style or way of running a consultation throughout the 6 consultations. All of the consultations are conducted in the presence of two to three peers and an experienced clinic mentor.
Students also are given the opportunity to observe their peers’ consultations. This combined with clinical training in NT Year 1 and 2 results in a total of 250 hours of quality clinical practice training.
Students receive comprehensive support from their clinic mentors before and after the consultation including written feedback on their clinical paperwork.
