Today we celebrate the Second Sunday of Lent. Today’s gospel tells us the story of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Two things we can learn from this story: First, we need “mountain-top experiences” in our lives. We share the mountain-top experience of Peter, James and John when we spend time in prayer. As Catholics, we too can experience the transfiguration in the Holy Eucharist that we celebrate. In each Holy Mass, the bread and wine we offer on the altar becomes “transfigured” or “transformed” (transubstantiated) into the living Body and Blood of the crucified, risen and glorified Jesus. Just as Jesus' Transfiguration strengthened the apostles in their time of trial. Each holy Mass should be our source of Heavenly strength. Second, the transfiguration of Jesus offers us a message of hope. In moments of doubt and during our dark moments of despair and hopelessness, let’s reach out to God and listen to His consoling words: "This is My beloved Son." I do believe Peter, James and John were so strong in
their faith in Jesus, and even willingly gave up their lives for Jesus because they had been on “the Mountain Top”; they had seen a glimpse of the glory of the resurrection/the glory of heaven. For indeed our crosses, our sufferings, even our own death are nothing compared to the glory of God, the glory of
heaven, the glory of the resurrection that we all will experience one day. So, whatever you are going through in your life right now keep your faith and hope alive, for indeed the best is yet to come. Amen Our Lady Star of the Sea Pray for us

So many experience fear or trepidation when called to the priesthood
and/or religious life. God strengthens those who are called if they
but respond with a generous heart.
