The Do’s and Don’ts of Mask Wearing
DO wear a mask whenever you’re going out in public
DO wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before you put your mask on and after you take it off.
DO wash your cloth face covering in a washing machine each day.
DO take a cloth face covering with you if you are hiking or visiting a park.
DO make sure the cloth face covering covers both your mouth and nose.
DO continue to maintain 6 foot social distance, even while wearing a mask.
DON’T wear surgical-grade masks, N95 respirators, or cloth masks with respirators. We need to reserve those for health care and frontline workers.
DON’T think that wearing cloth face masks means we can gather in large groups.
DON’T wear a cloth face covering while exercising outdoors. It’s not dangerous, just annoying and not necessary.
DON’T put a cloth face covering on a child under age 2.
DON’T touch your cloth face covering after you put it on. Try not to touch your face at all.
5 TIPS TO GET KIDS TO WEAR MASKS
Limit social circle to no more than 10 a week
If you get COVID-19 that means that you need to isolate (stay home and away from other people) for at least
10 days. Even those that live with or who you have had close contact with will need to quarantine for 14 days
in case they have it as well.
This means that if you have COVID-19, everyone in your household and your other close contacts can’t work,
gather, go out to see friends, visit family, or do anything.
Getting COVID-19 impacts more than just you- it impacts your family and everyone you live with or have close
contact with.
If you are feeling overwhelmed or mentally exhausted because of the changes to our society brought on by COVID-19, you’re not alone.

Mental Health Resources
Sleep at normal times. Try not to nap, and keep yourself occupied during the day with activities that are
stimulating and rewarding. TV is great as a treat in the evening but don’t spend all day bingeing shows on
Netflix!
Eat at normal times. Increased time at home might lead to a loss for things to do, it is normal to snack when
you’re bored. Try not to, or if you do, keep it healthy.
Stimulate your brain. Think – crosswords, puzzles, board games, and reading!
Exercise. Not getting out means that opportunities are limited but it is absolutely not impossible. Exercise
releases endorphins, which make you happy, as well as promoting blood flow around the body, nourishing the
brain, and providing a number of additional benefits to your mental health. Try a 7-minute exercise app or follow
an aerobics class on YouTube.
Reach out to others. Text messages, Zoom, social media, phone calls, and email. Social stimulation is vital to our overall wellbeing, and in the digital age we have so many opportunities to keep up contact.
Accept limitations and appreciate small achievements. It’s normal to feel totally helpless during something
like this. Try to let go of your worries about things you cannot change. Find balance by doing small things to
contribute, or take control over smaller, realistic aspects of your life..
Take a mental break. With the news cycle forever turning and social media blowing up on our devices,
sometimes we can get sucked into the constant barrage of information. Right now, much of this content is pretty
scary, and we feel obliged to keep watching in case something new happens. Remind yourself that it’s okay – and
maybe even vital – to switch off for a period of time.
