In the Christian calendar, Palm Sunday is
celebrated one week prior to Easter Sunday. It
commemorates the entrance of Jesus into
Jerusalem. The day is named after the palm
fronds that were used to greet Jesus on his way.
Every year, thousands of people follow Jesus’s

Jesus reached Jerusalem from the Mount of

and it follows the “Churches Path” toward
the Old City of Jerusalem.

It is interesting to note that the
“Hosanna” call, made during the
chanting, is similar to the Hebrew
word “Hosha’ na”, which is a call for
God’s salvation.
This call is made during the Jewish
festival of Sukkot, while waving palm
fronds .
The crowd who greeted Jesus in
Jerusalem was Jewish, and called
Hosha’ na” out to him, asking for“
salvation from a Messiah.
The original sound of the call was
kept by the translators of the New
Testament, and so it is used to this
day.
