FROM THE DESK OF MSGR. STEVE KNOX
Dear Friends in Christ,
Thanksgiving Day Mass
On Thursday, November 25th, at 9:00am, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day
Mass. The word “Eucharist” means thanksgiving, so it is very appropriate that we gather
around the table of the Lord on that day. I always find that the spirit at Mass on Thanks-
giving Day is a joyful spirit because we gather with our family and our parish community.
If you have never participated in Thanksgiving Day Mass, I would encourage you to come
out this year. During these turbulent times, we need to stay centered in our faith. Even
during tough times, there is much to be grateful for in our lives.
We have a very active food pantry that is overseen by Deacon Phil Abel. We are asking those who
come to Thanksgiving Day Mass to consider bringing some food items that can be distributed through our
food pantry. We gather for Mass to give God thanks and praise and out of that gratitude we share some of
what God has given us for those in need. If you do bring a bag of food items, you can bring those up at the
offertory time and place them in front of the altar. After Mass, we will take those items over to our food pan-
try in the Parish Center. Many thanks to all of our volunteers who share their time and talent to serve in our
food pantry!
Annual Great Lakes Men’s Conference on Saturday, November 20th
All men of the parish are invited to the upcoming Men’s Conference in DeKalb. We will have a table in
the Narthex this weekend with details and registration information. There is a great line up of speakers
planned for the event along with a closing Mass celebrated by Bishop Malloy. Fr. Aaron Downing and Dea-
con Bill Riseley will be organizing the carpooling for those who would like to leave from St. Bridget on Satur-
day, November 20th. Please see the information on the event on the next page of today’s bulletin.
Giving at Year’s End
On page 6-7 of today’s bulletin, we have information on some different ways to support our parish
through end of the year giving. Your gift to our parish will help to sustain our parish ministries and the work
of our church. I hope that you will find this information useful as you consider your year-end giving. If you
have an interest in any of these options but have some questions, contact Cindy in our Parish Office at 815-
633-6311 or Claudia Broman at our Diocesan Office at 815-399-4300. They both would be happy to assist you.
In Christ,
Msgr. Steve Knox
MASS FOR DECEASED CHILDREN
Monday, November 15th, at 7:00pm
Celebrant: Msgr. Steve Knox
On November 15th, we will cele-
brate a special Mass of remem-
brance for deceased children. If you have lost a
child recently or in the past, through miscarriage,
stillbirth, prematurity, illness, accident, or any oth-
er way, we welcome you and other family mem-
bers to gather with us for this special memorial
Mass. Loss is always difficult, but when it is the
loss of a child it is especially challenging. After the
homily, you will have an opportunity to light a can-
dle. All are welcome to attend this Mass of healing
and remembrance. It will also be livestreamed. If
you have any questions please contact Msgr. Steve
Knox at [email protected] or you can call
Lynn at the Parish Office 815-633-6311.
Anointing of the Sick after all Masses
Weekend of November 13th/14th
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick can be
received by any Catholic who has a serious health
condition and is in need of healing and strengthen-
ing. On the weekend of November 13th-14th, those
who desire to receive the sacrament will be anointed
right after Mass concludes. We will ask you to come
to the front pews of the Church. If anyone needs to
stay in the back, one of the priests will come to
them. We will say some prayers and then we will
anoint with the oil of the sick. If you know someone
who could benefit from this sacrament, please invite
them to come to Mass with you. This Sacrament is
for anyone struggling with physical, mental and
emotional illnesses/issues. For more information,
please contact one of the priests. May God’s healing
grace come upon all who have a need!
We are back! Men, be bold and on fire for your faith
and encourage others to do the same! Come, bring
your friends with and stand with close to a thou-
sand other men in the battle to reclaim our families
and culture for the glory of God! What better way to
build up your friendships than by bringing other
guys with you to share in this experience!
The 26th annual Great Lakes Catholic Men’s Confer-
ence, NIU Holmes Student Center, DeKalb, IL, Satur-
day, November 20, 2021, beginning at 8:50am. Cost
is $45 if by mail or registered by October 31st, $50

mation, please contact Dave DeBlauw at 815-871-

FUNERAL LUNCHEON MINISTRY
Our ministry is a true blessing to families as a com-
forting place to be with their loved ones and friends
during a blessed grieving time after the funeral Mass
of our deceased brother or sister in faith.
Our ministry truly appreciates all of you who have
contributed before the pandemic. As we start up our
ministry again, we are in need of more volunteers.
We welcome all women and men, retired and work-
ing, and college students who enjoy serving the Lord
and fulfilling the Beatitude: “Blessed are those that
mourn, for they shall be comforted”. We are looking
for help baking, calling, donating food, simply work-
ing, serving food, cleaning up, or being a drop off
helper. If interested, please call Lori Farris 815-222-
4485 or the Parish Office 815-633-6311. Please pray
about and consider joining our ministry.
For those already in our ministry, please text or call
Lori and leave a message to keep you active.

now. When we live in conformity to
the Word, hearing Jesus’ words and
living them out, the future holds no fear for us.
As you place your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de
Paul poor box, know that you are hearing the words
of Jesus and living them out.
