What do teachers think about CCSS?-
Encourage learners to think deeply
Students are being asked to discuss, comprehend & struggle
If implemented correctly this is monumental.
Agreed upon standards that that can be implemented locally is a whole lot better than NCLB
Reducing literature in schools is taking enlightenment out of education
We now have the capacity for inquiry base learning, social just focused lessons & culturally relevant
pedagogy
IDENTIFY WHAT STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW & DO
• Identify the verbs (skills): What do the students have to do (perform)?
• Identify the nouns (concepts and contents): What do the students have to know/produce (thing)?

What Skills do Pre-Service Teachers Need? • Design assessment and assignments that
meet the needs of ALL learners.• Create authentic tasks to engage learners in
mastery of a standard.• Analyze student responses to a task and
provide feedback.• Demonstrate strategies for reinforcing
academic vocabulary.• Use technology to collaborate,
communicate, demonstrate and have students produce a product.
• Analyze and interpret student data.• Support student misconceptions and ask
questions to guide the learner.• Unpack a standard & align across grade
levels, learning theory & child development.
• Relevant Models who practice what they preach
• Understand what it means to be a facilitator and guide the students in open-ended and rigorous lesson.
