Term 1 Week 10 Friday, 12 April 2019
What an exciting start to the year we have had! The students have all settled into the New Year very well and achieved so much already. Every child can be proud of their achievements. I would like to thank the Wattle Grove School community for making me feel so welcomed. I feel very privileged to be leading such a wonderful school. Term Two is shaping up to be a busy but productive term, and I am looking forward to working with you all in ensuring our students achieve their personal best in all they do! I would like to acknowledge our teaching and administrative staff for their hard work and the dedication they show on a daily basis. Many hours of work goes into preparing engaging lessons and extracurricular opportunities for our students, which impacts significantly on their learning outcomes. Thank you to our parents, carers and friends for your significant contributions. We value our positive partnerships in providing opportunities for our students and supporting many events and activities. Have a wonderful Easter. I hope you all have a fabulous holiday with family and friends. Stay safe and we will see you back for Term Two! Students return for Term Two on Tuesday 30 April 2019. Communication is the Key! Teacher-parent communication is a valuable tool in giving students the best education possible. A big part of this is ensuring open lines of communication to both celebrate students’ achievements and address concerns together. If you have any concerns at all, I encourage you to see your child’s teacher and make a time that is mutually convenient. This first step in addressing concerns, often results in a positive result for all. Once an issue is brought to the teacher’s and/or school’s attention, we make it our priority to address this in a timely matter to ensure the best outcome for your child.

towards maintenance of sporting equipment for the playground.
A cheque for $2500 was presented to our school from the RAE Vietnam Veterans’ Committee. This donation was to show their appreciation for the participation of our Primary School Choir in the Vietnam Veteran’s Day Services at The School of Military Engineering. Mrs Robinson has consistently accompanied our talented choir, introducing them to an Australian Custom as participants. Our participation has been highly valued by The School of Military Engineering. Unfortunately, the Veteran’s Committee who conduct this service is disbanding and handing over future services to the School of Military Engineering Staff. The committee are in a position to make this significant contribution to our school from assets originated from personal donations, predominately from members of the Royal Australian Engineers. This contribution will be used to purchase equipment and uniforms for the school choir. On behalf of the Wattle Grove community, I sincerely thank the Veteran’s Committee and know the choir will continue to make everyone proud.
Super Kids Morning Tea Super Kids Morning Tea is one of the highlights of my month. It is great to sit and chat with the students about their achievements inside and outside the
classroom. The students can be very proud of their accomplishments and I hope they enjoyed their morning tea!
Learning Conversations Thank you to all who attended the learning conversations. This was a fabulous opportunity for parents/carers and children to come together to discuss achievements and future learning goals with the class teacher. One of the greatest influences on

school success, is the formation and continuity of school-home partnerships. We had approximately 90% of families meeting with the teachers during this week! A big thank you to the teachers and families for the time given to ensure this was a success!
Wattle Wanderers Last week I visited 1Sky during their reading group time. The students were involved in a variety of literacy based activities to enhance their skills. Students were writing narratives, reading a range of texts, coding using their spelling words, completing grammar activities and much more! All the students were highly engaged and trying their best. Well done 1Sky, I can’t wait to come back!
