%n the &irst wee! we were as!ed to get into grou's o&
&our, and con(ure an idea &or a commercial &rom aselection o& categories) My grou' consisted o& me *Josh
Gleaves, Dammy de!anmbi, Elia Magar and Curtis
Keeble) traight away we started thin!ing o& some
ideas and by our way o& thin!ing we !new we wanted
to create a comedy 'iece) t the end o& the day we
came u' with the idea o& either ullshit Detector or
Knee-"igs)
"e started brainstorming each idea to see which had
the best structure, gags etc) %n the end we &ound that
!nee wigs had the most 'otential)
"e also decided to have an advert within an advert
ins'iring our 'rotagonist towards the 'roduct) "e also
set an environment &or our advert where we decided it
would be good in a train station then develo' &rom
there)
&ter much discussion, we embar!ed on the idea to
have .d animation over a /d environment, byrotosco'ing live action &ootage)

y wee! . we had a basic storyboard in 'lace) 0rom
here we would (ust need to develo' it) Dammy drew
the main storyboard &rom which we were all ha''y
with) 1o all our ama2ement he got e3actly what we
were thin!ing onto 'a'er4
Josh$ %n this wee! % brought some !nee-wig
illustrations or conce'ts o& what they might loo! li!e in
the ad and a slogan which were then integrated into
the advert)

t this 'oint we had a strong storyboard o& our idea,
although basic, all it needed was a bit o& twea!ing) Joshsu''lied the storyboard o& the advert, Dammy got to
wor! on the &inalised storyboard, Curtis &inished his
train station and then started wor!ing on the inside o&
the train) Elia elected himsel& to wor! on the scri't)
&ter all this was done, we could get started on the
animatic, which we were all eager to do4
lso, we decided to ma!e Elia the 'ro(ect Manager, and
Dammy the Director as he has a good understanding o&
where the advert can go)

"ith the 6 wee! 're-'roduction deadline in . wee!s,
we started creating bac!grounds and characters to addto the animatic) "e decided &or the animatic we will
use Photosho' layers, then animate those layers by
im'orting them into dobe &ter E&&ects) 1his made it
easy &or us to dis'lay our a''roach to the audience
rather than using &lash and have di&&ering camera
shots7&rames &rom the last)
Josh$ "hilst % continued wor!ing on the advert, the
rest o& the grou' s'lit u' shots they 'lanned on
drawing themselves)
% had &inished my #8 second advert within this wee!
and was glad to hel' the others with anything they
needed) ll % was waiting &or was sound to synchroni2e
the advert to, but that came in the &ollowing wee!)

"ee! 8 was 'robably our most stress&ul wee! in terms
o& 're'roduction) "e had to &ind music to relate to the&eel o& which we wanted the commercial to come across
as) &ter scouring a &ew 9ou1ube scores we &ound a
good &ree to use score which wor!ed 'retty well, ne3t
was the voice over &or the ad4 Elia said his &riend had a
strong, clear voice so we gave it a go) 1o our
astonishment his voice was 'er&ect and we couldn:t
than! him more as it made our commercial stand out
but also made it what it is)

&ter a stress&ul getting together we managed to get
our animatic to a standard we &elt we could show theclass, sat down and com'leted the 'resentation with
'lenty o& time be&ore the 'resentation) 1he
'resentation went well and we all believe we
success&ully got our conce't across to the audience
with ease)

"e needed to start animating and &ast4 y this time all
o& our environments were almost set u' ready &or
render when needed)
During class time we decided to use the o''ortunity to
get some &ilming done &or the rotosco'ing *as this will
ta!e the longest to do) ?sing some loaned eui'ment
&rom the C1 de'artment and Curtis: camera we were
able to get our shots s'ot on to what our director
wanted)
"ee! F$
@otosco'ing started, we came to a decision to use
dobe 0lash to :draw: over the video and use the 'en
tool rather than the 'aint brush as it gave us more
control and 'recision) 1his way o& wor!ing started o&&
slow but once everyone got used to it wor!ed out
nicely) 1he basic bloc!ing o& movements were
im'lemented)
"ee! #$
y wee! # we were on to' o& our wor! and on trac!
&or the deadline) Everyone was wor!ing on their shots
which were all loo!ing very 'romising, getting more
detail in their shots, and some even moving onto
colour)

1he &inal wee! had come and we are under a lot o&
'ressure to get everything done, it (ust came u' to'utting it all together) &ter collecting all the video &iles
we decided to meet u' the night be&ore the
'resentation and sync the music and sound e&&ects with
the video &iles) ;nce done we only had a &ew twea!s
and shots to add the ne3t morning but when we had
done and needed to add the shots to our almost
com'lete animation the &iles wouldn:t o'en) %t was a
disaster, so we ran bac! to the com'uter we created
the &iles on a than!&ully it was where we saved it and
contained all the necessary &iles we needed) &ter the
render was com'leted we were already hal& an hour
late but we couldn:t 'resent with no &inal 'roduct)
>uc!ily on arrival it was our turn to 'resent a&ter thecurrent grou')
&ter all the mayhem we endured we managed to
dis'lay our animation which only had a &ew editable
&laws) =ere is our &inal animation in which we ho'e you
