PROGRAMMEOUTLINE Theessenceoftheprogrammeisforparticipantstogetholdofenoughknowledgeabouttheworkingsofthebraintobegintofeelsafeenoughtostartusingsuchknowledgesystematicallyastheunderpinningtothepracticalskillsanddisciplines of their Coachingpractices. That knowledge is focusedonNeurobehaviouralModeling (NBM)*, the firstsystematically-describedbrain-basedCoachingprocess.
Thewholeoftheteachingprogrammeisopenformat–programmemembersarewelcometointerruptatanystage,seekclarification,question,satisfythemselvestheyhaveunderstood,makesuggestionsforshapingthecontentoftheprogrammeasitgoesalong,and/orinanyotherwaymakesuretheyaregettingfromtheprogrammewhattheywant.
Itisavowedlyateachingprogramme,notatrainingprogramme,inthatitisdesignedtoincreaseknowledgeandthecreativeapplicationofthatknowledgeratherthansimplytraintechnique.Therewillneverthelessbesomesubstantialparts–thetakingandusingofabiographicalenquiry,for instance,andtheuseofthat inclientsessions– inwhichtechniquewillbepredominantbutallthetimetestedagainstknowledge.
Theprogrammeholdsasacentralbelieftheviewthat,throughappliedneuroscience,coachingasaprofessionhas,overthenextdecade,anopportunitytooccupythehighgroundinorganisationswithregardtoanunderstandingofwhyandhowhumanbeingscangiveoftheirbest:andtobeinstrumentalinmakingthatbestapparent.
ThetwoteachingdaysofeachSessionwillincludeGroupsupervisionofcurrentclientmaterialtowardstheendofthefirstday.Participantswillpresentcasematerialwithintheboundariesofprofessionalconfidentiality.Thissupervisionwillbeextendedinthemonthly2-hourwebinarsthatareprogrammedfortheintervalsbetweentheteachingsessions.Thewebinarswillberunasamixofsupervision(thefirsthour),drop-inclinicsessions(half-hour),andmaster-class(half-hour).Themaster-classwilltypicallybeaboutsomeaspectofhowtheemergingknowledgeaboutthebrain isbeingapplied.
Webinarswill be conducted fromwhereverPaulBrownandCoursemembers are in theworldon thedatesof thewebinars.Experiencehasshownthatthereareoccasionallytechnicaldifficultiesbutthatthetechnologyisreasonablyrobust.Sofaronly1outof30webinarshasbeenlosttotechnicalproblems(completepowerfailureinLaos). Lostsessionsgetreplaced.Recordingswillbemadeofthewebinars.Participantsshouldattendatleast50%ofthewebinarslive,sothattheycancontribute.Recordingsofanymissedlivewebinarsshouldbelistenedtobeforethenextsession.
