BUILDING SUCCESSFUL UNIVERSITY ENTREPRENEURIAL CENTRE MAY LEVERAGE THE REPUTATION OF UNIVERSITY PUTRA MALAYSIA Assoc. Prof. Zulhamri Abdullah
Nowadays, enhancing graduate employability among public higher education institutions can be daunting thought as many universities are facing a decrease in number of graduates being employed and marketed in a highly com-petitive global and national market environment particularly in a developing country like Malaysia. It is a big chal-lenge for universities to change perceptual and behavioral mechanisms in the light of enhancing graduate employa-bility and marketability. Realizing this key issue, this paper provides a critical and conceptual view on how to lead the entrepreneurial changes in one of leading Malaysian universities. The project report shows that entrepreneur-ship is not about business alone (Herrmann, 2008), importantly, addressing the importance of developing entrepre-neurial graduates may transform the Malaysian university into a leading Asian entrepreneurship university. Thus, this enterprise project is aim to focus on four key aspects, the market feasibility, business strategy, market strategy, financial model, and implementation plans. The PESTEL analysis is employed to provide some evidences on entrepre-neurship education which identifies the role of entrepreneurial centre as a key entity in improving the university entrepreneurial system. Specifically, vision, context, opportunity, and resources and finance are thoroughly high-lighted to articulate the sound entrepreneurial education. Indeed, the impact on entrepreneurship education is em-phasized on three key aspects such as the behaviorial action of students and staff, infrastructural development, and institutional changes on the eco-system of university. Thus, building the university entrepreneurial centre may lever-age the reputation of Universiti Putra Malaysia. Keywords: university role, center of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education

FISHERIES AND ECONOMICS OF FISHING UNITS AT SIRT IN LIBYA
Elamin M. F. Elzwam , Titto D’Cruz.S
The Inshore Fishing Boats (ISFB) and Deep Sea Fishing Boats (DSFB) that operate at Sirt have been studied for its fisheries and fisheries economics. Data have been collected for a period of one year. Representation of population has ensured by simple random and systematic sampling methods. The result of ISFB and DSFB have compared and contrasted to analyze merit and demerits and draw recommendation for fisheries development. Results shows, in a month, the average production of ISFB was 812 Kg fish worth 6210 LD and by DSFB 510 kg worth 2819 LD. Fluctuation in production was more conspicuous in DSFB than ISFB particularly in price. On an average an ISFB crew earned a net income of 846 LD in a month and 565 LD by DSFB. The owners of ISFB and DSFB gained a net income of 1128 and 2823 LD respectively. ISFB owners invested only 10,000 per boat while DSFB invested 60,000 LD. It justifies the difference in return on investment. Fisheries and fisheries research in Libya still remain one of the virgin areas that need attention for research and development.

CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES OF MUSLIMS ON POLYGYNY: A CASE OF NIGERIA AND MALAYSIA
Ishiaku Safiyanu, PhD
One of the numerous marital challenges of the contemporary Muslims is their ignorance of religious laws as well as lackadaisical attitudes toward polygyny, which has become a highly controversial and contentious issue with pro-found impact among Muslims, and between Muslims and non-Muslims. While the orientalists misconceive polygyny as one of the rights, duties and practices in Islam which degrade women, some Muslims manipulate its wisdom and misuse the permission to exploit women in polygynous homes. The non-Muslims see it as one negative side of Islam, a complicated and outmoded system of marriage which works only in backward societies, and it needs to be abol-ished and replaced with monogamous system of marriage that is relevant to modern societies. They add that since slavery is now illegal, the practice of polygyny should be illegal. Some critics of polygyny restrict themselves to mo-nogamy as the only civilized system of marriage that in actual fact protects the rights of women and a panacea to incessant marital discord, feud and other negative impacts attributed to polygyny. As a result, a good number of Muslims practice polygyny with less frequency than in earlier times. The Muslim intellectuals see the above cam-paign as a clear manifestation of ignorance to the wisdom of Islam on polygyny, and a movement against what God has made permissible. This paper intends to provide in-depth study on the wisdom of Islam on polygyny. It attempts to prove its relevance to modern societies, against the wrong impression and its rejection by the non-Muslims and Muslims with secular ideology. It argues that the laws of Islam are never static and its Muhkam laws are relevant to all times and places. The work intends to limit the study to Nigeria and Malaysia, being among the prominent Mus-lim countries where polygyny and monogamy are being practiced respectively.

W014 PEMBANGUNAN KEROHANIAN BERASASKAN AL-MUHASIBI
DALAM MENANGANI GEJALA SOSIAL MASA KINI Norfadilah Binti Abdul Rahman
This research discusses the spiritual development according to al-Muhasibi as a reference to solve current social symptoms. The study has two objectives namely to introduce a charismatic sufi figure of the third century Hijrah and to highlight Abu Harith al-Muhasibi’s concept and perspective of spiritual development in educational psychology and to explain the relationship of his concept as the base in solving current social symptoms. This study uses the li-brary research method which uses two types of data namely primary and secondary sources. The primary data were obtained from the writings of al-Muhasibi, for instance, al-Ricayah li huquq Allah and Risalah al-Mustarshidin. The secondary data were retrieved from the latest writings of modern scholars on al-Muhasibi. The data obtained were critically analysed to achieve the objectives of this research. The findings of this study reveal that the concept in al-Muhasibi’s view is based on spiritual development of man. Based on devoutness to Allah and equipped with several methods of educational psychology such as muhasabat al nafs, riyadah and mujahadah to Allah, human positive as-pects namely khawf and raja', remembering death, recognising good and evil and muraqabah will be realised through the process of obliterating negative aspects in one’s self such as conceit, vanity, pride, deceit and envy. Ac-cording to al-Muhasibi, a good man is someone whose soul is developed according Allah’s will. Therefore, this study concludes that al-Muhasibi’s concept on human development is still relevant and suitable in today’s Muslim society. Hence, the concept of al-Muhasibi is one of the alternatives to overcome social symptoms in present day society.

KEPERCAYAAN ETNIK MELANAU DARI SUDUT PANDANG ISLAM: SUATU ANALISA
Dr. Tengku Intan Zarina Bt Tengku Puji, Dr. Mazlan Bin Ibrahim, Dr. Zaimuariffudin Shukri Bin Nordin, Ibtisam Bt Abdullah, Nozira Bt Salleh, Munirah Binti Abd Ghani.
Melanau atau a liko sering kali mengalami perubahan watak sosiobudaya.

REVIVING CONTEMPORARY ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION THROUGH THE STRENGTHENING AND UNITY OF AKIDAH
Dr.Azmin bin Yusof
Indeed there are innumerable challenges and tribulations facing the Muslim people of today. The biggest hurdle of them all is the constant strife, enmity and bickering permeating through the Muslim community itself. In short there is a serious lack of brotherly goodwill and solidarity between one Muslim brother to the other at large. This sorry state of affairs is truly an irony of sorts as in Islam the brotherhood relationship is accorded even greater prominence than those of family and heredity relationships. And no where is this more pronounced than in the civil war currently unfolding in Syria. More than ten thousand of our Muslim brothers have been massacred by their fellow Muslim brothers; with their blood being shed as well as their houses displaced. What is painfully gut-wrenching is the fact that, whether we realize it or not, our Muslim um-mah have become sitting ducks of the conspiracy plans executed by the non-Muslims, paying for it with their blood and honor.

PERSEPSI MASYARAKAT MELANAU TRADISIONAL TERHADAP KOSMOLOGI: ANALISIS TERHADAP BE-BERAPA SURAH MAKKIYAH
Munirah Binti Abd Ghani, Dr. Tengku Intan Zarina Bt Tengku Puji , Dr. Tengku Intan Zarina Bt Tengku Puji
SMALL TEA GROWERS OF ASSAM: THEORIES, PRACTICES AND CHALLENGES OF AN INDIGENOUS ENTRE-
PRENEURSHIP Partha Ganguli
Assam is the largest tea growing state of India. The state has a majority of large tea plantations. The average size of the tea estates is around 243 hectares. Tea plantation has a history of over 170 years in the state since its initiation. Towards the latter part of the 1970s, the state witnessed the emergence of tea cultivators who cultivated tea on a small scale on less than 10.12 hectares of land. Despite the prevailing skepticism regarding the sustainability of these growers vis-à-vis the competition from the large tea estates, in the subsequent decades, this indigenous group of local entrepreneurs have battled all odds to establish that small tea cultivation as an enterprise is economically via-ble, sustainable and cost effective. The present paper posits that existing theories and practices of tea cultivation were defied by this group of home-grown entrepreneurs, who evolved new & thrifty strategies of tea cultivation, administrative practices and marketing strategies to grapple with challenges and utilize to the full their limited re-sources. The paper also proposes to examine the indigenous model of small tea cultivation evolved by these entre-preneurs, which varies from other models of the large tea estates of the world and also from small tea growers’ models viz. Indonesian or Kenyan models, to carve a niche or a unique identity. The paper hypothecates the econom-ic viability of tea cultivation on a small scale, which has proved a case in point. Key words: sustainability, identity, indigenous, model.

“AND AIN’T I A WOMAN?” INTERSECTIONS OF RACE, GENDER AND CLASS IN BLACK FEMINIST THEORY AND BLACK WOMEN’S LITERATURE (LITERARY PRACTICE)
Dr. Madhumita Purkayastha
Sojourner Truth’s powerful statement at the Women’s Convention in Akron, Ohio in 1851 was a deconstruction of the notion of a global, common womanhood. Eminent black feminist critic bell hooks had spoken in the context of the racial realities that had made African-American women’s experience in America a unique one because of the unusual position they occupied in society. Black women were expected to choose between “being black” and “”being female”. Literature is a powerful ideological tool that influences as well as responds to socio-cultural and political discourses. Literary representations therefore can debunk stereotypical notions about marginalized groups in grappling with problematic issues of ethnicity and identity and intersections of race, gender and class. Black Feminist theory was instrumental in defying homogenization of the “woman’s dilemma” and monolithic concepts of sisterhood. The rich and diverse experience of black women in America has been given space within the tradition of black women’s writing. Contemporary feminist debates and changing perspectives have emerged as challenges to the literary practice adopted by Black women writers. This paper proposes to examine the relevance of a distinct and unique Black Feminist consciousness as triggering the emergence of a black women’s literary movement. The paper would interrogate the implications of deconstructionist debates in the context of black women’s struggles (in life and literature). The paper shall incorporate historicity as a methodology to examine the intersections of race, gender and class in theory and practice. It would establish that reverberations of Sojourner Truth’s question “And Ain’t I a Woman?” forged the sisterhood between lived experience and literary representations to reinforce the black feminist theoretical standpoint.

Development of digital media channel, in particular, via the social media sites, has made the content easily exploited. The rapid usage of Video Websites such as YouTube and Vimeo as well as the social media websites for example Facebook and Twitter achieves the level of Digital Life Biosphere which has become part of the life of community. Amongst other impacts of this technology on the life of actors and actresses is the show and replay of creative contents such as film and television broadcasting has been doubled up without granting any compensation or income to the existing Actors or Actresses. Actors are no longer able to control the extent to which their performance can be duplicated, modified and sold through a complete plan or used only video clips or audio alone by any party. Therefore, it is deemed absolutely necessary to introduce the "residual rights" or a collection of collateral royalty based on revenue model (revenue based residual). This provides space for the actors who are qualified to claim royalties for broadcasting and performances that exceed the limits of time and space designated for broadcast area. This Collateral Royalty can be enshrined in a collective agreement agreed by a Collecting Society. Through this agreement the rights and welfare of the actors will be professionally cared for and monitored under a collective agreement. This is done between the publisher and broadcaster through a standard contract provided by the Collecting Society’s general terms agreed by the industry collectively.

GOING GLOBAL: A FIRST-YEAR COLLEGE COURSE Dr. Gina Zanolini Morrison
In Liberal Arts universities, the General Education courses—foundational courses in science, mathematics, languages, history, art, and philosophy—are by nature multi-disciplinary in that students from all disciplines take classes together before splitting off into their major courses of study. In such situations, professors can capitalize on that opportunity for the integration of knowledge by creating interactive classroom environments wherein students can construct their own knowledge and share their perspectives. Instead, too many professors continue to rely on lecture as their main method of content delivery and paper-and-pencil tests as the preferred means of assessment, leaving little room to generate student interest and develop new knowledge together. One First Year Experience syllabus has been developed to take advantage of the fertile ground for entering college students to share knowledge and resources from a multidisciplinary perspective. The rationale for that course, entitled Going Global, is presented with all assignments and rubrics.
