Progressing cavity pumping (PCP) systems from Baker Hughes offer production solutions in a wide range of applications and fl ow rates. Building on 50 years of artifi cial lift expertise, Baker Hughes designs and manufactures complete PCP systems to extend the operating range of the Baker Hughes portfolio of pumping solutions. The PCP system is a positive displacement pump that provides additional energy to increase the fl ow of hydrocarbons to the surface.

Since 1986 Baker Hughes has revolutionized the oil and gas industry with progressing cavity pump technology. The company fi rst used this technology in hydraulic drilling motors, creating

innovative solutions in horizontal and directional drilling. Two product lines collaborated in 1998 to leverage the PCP technology from INTEQ and the artifi cial lift expertise from Centrilift. Today Baker Hughes is the only PCP technology company totally dedicated to the oil and gas industry.

Baker Hughes offers both rod driven progressing cavity pumping (RDPCP™) systems and electrical submersible progressing cavity pumping (ESPCP™) systems. In addition to the downhole components, Baker Hughes RDPCP systems include best-in-class surface driveheads for reliability, easy installation, safety, and environmental considerations.

Driveheads from Baker Hughes are the industry’s most robust drivehead line for powering rod driven progressing cavity pumping (RDPCP™) systems. When matched with a PCP pump, these systems can address a myriad of challenging downhole environments.

This RDPCP system includes drivehead equipment options to suit a wide variety of applications with drive requirements from 5 to 300 hp. Baker Hughes manufactures these driveheads in-house to exacting standards, and the rugged durability makes them applicable in severe environments, including harsh cold weather and desert conditions. In fact, all driveheads receive the same

marine-quality coatings used for protection in offshore applications.

Baker Hughes has internalized many of the vital drivehead components to reduce the potential for damage during installation or maintenance. Since many components are internal, this also protects the drivehead from harsh environmental conditions that can prematurely deteriorate exposed equipment.

RDPCP systems are suitable for conventional oil and gas applications, waterfl ood source wells, and coalbed methane (CBM) dewatering operations. PCP pumps have a simple design, which decreases emulsifi cation and increases effi ciency.

Baker Hughes, the market leader in electrical submersible pumping (ESP) systems, has leveraged over 50 years of motor design, development, and manufacturing experience to pioneer the electrical submersible progressing cavity pumping (ESPCP) system. Baker Hughes is the sole provider of this technology, combining the application advantages of progressing cavity pumping (PCP) systems with the reliability of the industry’s leading ESP motors to expand the range of artifi cial lift production solutions.

Mechanical wear between sucker rods and tubing has long been a signifi cant problem when using a standard PCP in deviated wells.

The ESPCP technology eliminates the rods and expands the operating range of PCP systems, particularly in deviated or horizontal wellbores. In very viscous applications, eliminating the sucker rod string accommodates a larger fl ow area in the production tubing string, lowering fl ow losses and increasing system effi ciencies.

ESPCP systems are the optimal production solution in low-volume applications with viscous, gaseous, and solids-laden fl uids; deviated and horizontal wellbores; or where safety and environmental issues are a concern. PCP systems have a simple design that results in decreased emulsifi cation and high effi ciencies.

Since its introduction in 1986, the Centrilift Electrospeed™ variable speed drive (VSD) has constantly set new performance standards for a variety of artifi cial lift production solutions, including progressing cavity pumping (PCP) systems. New innovations in controls and electronics design have been integrated into the state-of-the-art Electrospeed VSD, providing the industry’s most reliable surface system.

VSDs give operators the fl exibility to easily adjust production outputs of the PCP system as downhole conditions change. The VSD will protect the system by sensing changing

conditions that could potentially damage the PCP. Alarms and limits can be programmed in the drive, allowing the Electrospeed VSDs to automatically make step changes to optimize production operations. The graphical control system (GCS) incorporated in Baker Hughes VSDs is a user-friendly interface that records, logs, and communicates data from the drive and downhole monitor to a laptop, SCADA, or satellite system.

Baker Hughes is the only artifi cial lift provider that designs and manufactures its own line of variable speed drives. For more than 25 years Baker Hughes

In today’s oil fi elds, remotely monitoring well conditions to reduce costly downtime and maximize production is critical. SPVision™

software from Baker Hughes turns ordinary operational data into powerful information for realtime decision making.

SPVision software is a software-as-a-service that, unlike traditional SCADA systems, provides you with pre-built user confi gurable screens that are easy to learn and navigate. Once communication to your well is established, you can immediately begin monitoring your wells. When you sign up with PCP SPVision software, you will be responsible for monitoring your own wells.

SPVision software allows you to operate by exception, minimizing unnecessary visits to the fi eld while lowering Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) exposure. With SPVision software’s alarms, employees can focus on other priorities until issues requiring immediate attention arise. Being a web-based solution, SPVision software allows all employees at various locations in your organization to view all well data in one centralized location without any additional software installation at each user’s location.

Contact your Baker Hughes representative today or visit www.bakerhughes.com/pcp to fi nd out how PCP SPVision software can provide critical information on individual wells or entire fi elds.

Monthly Well Report: Built on a “drill down” methodology, the monthly well report allows you to see high-level statistics for the performance of an individual well on a monthly basis. These high-level statistics can then be analyzed in further detail to determine root-cause and to initiate any remedial actions.

Risk Assessment: Allows you to quickly identify the most critical wells that may be at risk, allowing operations personnel to effectively manage inventory and field resources. The analysis is a weighted analysis of number of starts, well conditions, and production.

Field Level Key Performance Indicators: A monthly summary report that provides indicators of overall field performance and key performance indicators, as well as tracks and records performance metrics including reliability, efficiency, and performance statistics.

Stress Report: This is a daily summary listing of all the wells in the field and a quick look at any wells showing warning signs of performance degradation. Common warning signs are built in and focus on power, PCP, controller, and well issues. These wells can be quickly identified and remedial steps can be taken to avoid unplanned well downtime.
