Greetings,
It brings me great pleasure to serve as the 2008-2009
Polemarch for the Hendersonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa
Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. I want to welcome all of our
returning chapter members, future members, and
community sponsors that have helped us achieve in so
many endeavors. We were recently recognized as the
Chapter of the Year (Medium) for the South Central
Province and have been awarded this distinguished honor
for two consecutive years now. This achievement did not
come easy. In fact, many sacrifices were made along the
way, but we captured the vision of making an impact in
serving our communities. Without question, we have an
instrumental member who served as a past Polemarch
and current Board Member for the South Central
Province to thank for many of the opportunities given to
the chapter in recent years. That Brother is Don Williams
and we truly do thank him for all the hard work and
dedication that he has given to the fraternity. His efforts
have not gone unnoticed and our chapter is privileged to
have such an inspiring and selfless leader that always
stresses Unity in our fold. It is our hope that we never rest
on the "shield" and continue to Progress in achievements
in every field of human endeavor
We do it together, One Kappa!!!
This was a great year for the Hendersonville Alumni Chapter.
We were awarded the covenant title of 2008 Chapter of the
Year medium during our 63rd Annual South Central Province
Council. The theme was “Creating Inspiration: A Call to
Service”. This years meeting was held on April 17th-19th in
Jackson, TN. This makes the second year the brothers of
Hendersonville were awarded the prestigious honor.
Congratulations are also in order for two of our very own,
H‟ville „s chapter Polemarch Christopher Berry was
appointed to the KAPPAC (Keeping African-Americans
Political –Political Action Committee) Board of Directors
Southern Region and Don Williams was voted onto the
South Central Province Council Board of Directors.
Our 2008 Kook-Out not only shows our
skills on the grill, but it is also a time for brothers to
come together with family and friends to relax, with
some food, fun and fellowship. This years cookout was
held at Cane Ridge Park in Antioch, TN. We would like
to thank chairman Celeste Ware as well as others for
their dedication and hard work in putting this annual
event together.
The Hendersonville Chapter along with Kappa’s from other
chapters in our Province, embarked in a major historical
moment this year at our state capitol, in Nashville, TN. The
Men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. established a new
relationship with our government. The purpose of this
endeavor was to bring awareness to the issues plaguing the
African-American communities. The event was held on March
11th 2008. Let’s continue our good works in the name
achievement, One Kappa.

Greeting brothers, I would like to thank our
Polemarch Christopher Berry for giving me the
opportunity to work as your reporter for the
Hendersonville Alumni Chapter Newsletter,
now called the Progressive Post. It is an honor
and a privilege to be given this charge and I
vow to continue to strive for great
achievement as your newly appointed
reporter.
It’s not everyday that you become a part of history. Well I received my chance. On Tuesday ,
October 7, 2008 I was favored enough to meet one of the candidates running for the 2008
presidency. I’m speaking of non other than Illinois Senator Barack Obama. I met Senator
Obama while attending an after debate party given by former Vice President Al Gore.
This was a very humbling experience that I will cherish for years to come.
