Principal’s Report
Last Wednesday we were lucky to be joined once
again by Ken McAlister for our ANZAC ceremony.
Thank you to Dana, Hugh, Summer, Monty and
Tyson for a fantastic job in running the ceremony
and well done to all the students who showed
respect during the service. Thanks to Mrs Millar,
Mr Harris and Mrs Gault for providing a beautiful
morning tea and thanks to the parents that came
along to join our service. After the service the 3-6
students participated in some interesting and
challenging compass activities with Mr McAlister.
We are all getting prepared to become film stars
tomorrow. There will be a film crew here from
Teach NSW to make a short promotional film on
teaching and learning in a rural school. The
students are asked to wear their best school
uniform to school and bring their joggers and
shorts – the students will wear our Quandialla
sport shirts later in the day.
The Forbes Small Schools Athletics carnival will
be held this Friday, 10th May. Children running in
the 1500m need to be at Forbes Public School by
8:20am, everyone else is asked to arrive at
Tuesday 7th

8.45am to get prepared for the marching.
Students need to wear their sports uniform with
navy track pants and bring some navy shorts. It is
predicted to be cold on the day so be sure to rug
up.
On Monday Summer and Dana tried out for the
Lachlan Netball team, by all reports they had a
great day and played well.
The next few weeks are going to be busy with
NAPLAN, Musica Viva, choir practise in
Caragabal and the Henry Lawson Festival Play
Day. Mr Ferris and I will also be away at training.
Mrs Ryan and Mrs Day will be covering the
classes on the days Mr Ferris and I are away.
The Lachlan PSSA Cross Country will be held on
May 24 at Forbes racecourse. No teachers from
our school will be attending the cross country, so
it will be the parents responsibility to get students
to and from Forbes, as well as supervise them
while they are there. A note will be sent home in
the next few days with more details.
This year we are going to compete in the
Premier’s Spelling Bee. Students will be given a
list of words to learn and a spelling bee will be
held here at school later in the term. From this
students will be chosen to represent our school.
More details of the spelling bee will be made
available over the next few weeks.
Once again I’d like to say it’s been wonderful to
see all students at school before 9am and our
attendance is improving from last term. If your
child is away from school it is asked that you
provide an explanation for their absence within 7
days. If no explanation is given a note will be sent
home asking for you to provide a reason. An
explanation can be provided through a written
note, an email to the school, a phone call to the
school or in person at the school.

WOOLWORTHS EARN & LEARN 2019
Between 1st May and 25th June, 2019, collect as many stickers as you can.
Please place your stickers on the sticker sheet (attached to this week’s Newsletter). If you require more sticker sheets, please contact the front office, during school hours.
On the completion of Earn & Learn, please bring your sticker sheets, and any spare stickers
to the front office, so we can count them all up, and submit a claim for new equipment for our school.
Our school also has a collection box at Young and Temora Woolworths stores.
Thank you to everyone for supporting our school in the
2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn Program.
