Quilts for Viet Nam VetsWednesday, May 7th 11:00am

Barb Hilts writes: Doug and I will be leaving very soon for his annual reunion with his “brothers” from Viet Nam. We are so pleased to be able to take an abundance of quilts with us to give to the guys. Thank you so much to all who have helped with every step! Our original goal was met so we set a new goal and that was also achieved! On Wednesday, May 7th at 11:00am we invite you to come to Sew Nice for prayers for the quilts. Deacon Donna will be here to say prayers for the quilts and the brave men who will receive them. We hope you will join us to see all of the quilts. Thanks to all, Barb and Doug Hilts

Cindy Hathaway and The Persian Pickle ClubMay 6th, 10th, 13th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 24th and 27th - 10:00-6:00

Many of you knew Cindy and also know that our beloved Cindy lost her battle with cancer last year. At Cindy’s memorial service it was stated that her favorite movie was The Persian Pickle Club. After the services Flora and I talked about having a Cindy Hathaway night at the store where we would show the movie, have popcorn and in general celebrate Cindy and quilting. We soon learned that The Persian Pickle Club must have been Cindy’s favorite book as the movie hadn’t been made yet. Flora did many internet searches and finally got connected with Christine Fiore working on the movie production. After telling her about Cindy and our quest for the movie Flora asked if there was anything that we could do to help with the production. Christine immediately said that we could make a quilt in remembrance of Cindy that would be used in the movie. They (the production company) have provided all of the fabric, batting, backing and even the thread to make this quilt. A Persian Pickle is a very old term for paisley. The book (and now the movie) is about a group of women during the dust bowl and how they used quilting to survive the horrible times in which they were living. Christine felt that after learning about Cindy and her incredible caring and sharing ways and her love of quilting and the love that we all have for Cindy that the Remembrance quilt in the movie was the perfect quilt to be made in Cindy’s memory. So we are asking for your help to create this wonderful remembrance quilt in honor of Cindy Hathaway. Please consider joining us on any and all of the above dates to complete this quilt. Our deadline is June 1st so we have alot to do in a very short time.

Little HousesWednesday, May 28th 12:00-4:00 or 5:00-9:00Taught by: Donna HanleyCost: $25.00 + Square2 tool + Tech Sheet

This quilt can be done in colors for a fun baby quilt or a great wall hanging or you could keep making the basic pattern and turn it into a great throw. We just highlighted this quilt at our Studio 180 Design Demo Day on May 3rd. You can make this quilt even if you didn’t attend the Demo Day. Donna will be working with you to show you how to fussy cut the center squares and how to use your Square2 tool to make the points of the stars and the borders. For the beginner and beyond.

Taught by: Diane MarvinCost: $25.00 + Square2 tool + Wing Clipper tool + pattern

Another great Studio 180 Design pattern by Deb Tucker. This throw is a great project for using your Square2 tool and your Wing Clipper tool. The center stars are made

by using the Square2 tool, the single stars are made by using the Wing Clipper. The pattern is designed to make a throw size quilt however by only making one carpenter’s wheel and surrounding it with individual stars you can have a great wallhanging. This is another pattern that was highlighted during our May 3rd Demo Day and can be made even if you didn’t attend. For the beginner and beyond.
