What is the project about?

• schools500reformation is an international project connecting Protestant school worldwide

• All Protestant school can join and register

• Agencies in the academic and educational field (for example training centres for teachers, educational association and foundations) can register as supporters



What can the project do for your school?

For school management and teaching staff the project can offer

• the opportunity to find partner schools and to exchange globally

• support for profiling of your own school in a global context

• a variety of suggestions to discover the significance of 500 years of Protestantism for your school

• the opportunity to exchange on the variety of Protestant school as part of the global ecumenical community

• the opportunity to make visible the significance of the educational work within the churches as well as in your society



What can the project do for your school?

It can enable students

• to think about ‚being Protestant‘ in a contemporary context

• to collect information on Protestant schools in other countries and continents and to exchange on this

• to share everyday life, faith and biblical tradition worldwide

• to expand competences of foreign languages by exchanging with students from other countries

• to celebrate worldwide, to have fun and to encounter interesting individuals and topics

The participating schools and students should make sure of their roots in the

Reformation and discover significant findings by taking close look on this.

the adjunct „worldwide“ underlines the milestone of the global perspective of the

discovery process. Therefore the prime function of the teaching material lies in connecting the discovery and confirmation process more closely with each other.

Objective

The participating schools

• reconstruct the roots of the Reformation in their own history and consider how these roots are noticeable in the current school profile.

• deal with the self positioning of at least one other school of another country or continent and develop sensibility for the global plurality of Protestant schools.



Basic idea

• The apple tree is a formative symbol of hope of the Reformation movement.

• In this module the symbol is used to discover the Reformation roots of your own school and to interpret it in a global horizon.
