On Thursday, B-Shift crews (L51, A50, and BN51) participated in the
Operation Dynamo II drill at the Naval Hospital in Bremerton. This was a
great opportunity to work with our surrounding agencies and Naval
Hospital Staff members. Crews practiced rescuing victims off the roof.
Residential fires restriction lifted
Posted September 7, 2018
Kitsap County Fire Marshal, David Lynam
(Port Orchard, WA) – The Kitsap County Fire Marshall has lifted the prohibition on
recreational fires in Kitsap County. Recreational fires in approved locations and in
appliances can resume immediately.
"Cooler weather, shorter days and a more fall-like weather forecasts allows us to lift the
recreational fire ban," said David Lynam, County Fire Marshall. "Fire danger is still
precarious, and caution is still the name of the game," Lyman added.
A Phase 1 burn ban remains in effect. Officials expect it will remain in effect until rain
arrives in the fall.
REMINDER: General back yard burning as well as land clearing is prohibited and all burning permits
will be suspended for the immediate future until the ban is lifted. Recreational fires must be 3 feet or less
in size, in a designated fire pit using only charcoal or dry firewood (no milled lumber). Fires must be
constantly attended until fully extinguished and at least one piece of fire-extinguishing equipment must
be on-site and available for immediate use while burning.

Most people know that eating fruits and vegetables is important for good health,
but most of us still aren’t getting enough. This September is Fruits & Veggies –
More Matters Month and a great reminder to eat your fruits and veggies!
Eating a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables and fruits can help you:
Lower your risk for heart disease and some types of cancer
Maintain or reach a healthy weight
Keep your body strong and active
Here are some ideas to help you and your family fit more fruits and vegetables into
your day:
Keep a bowl of fruit handy where the whole family can see it.
Cut up fruits and veggies ahead of time so they’re ready for quick,
healthy snacks.
Challenge your family to try a new veggie or fruit every week.
Remember, eating more fruits and veggies can be fun — and it’s worth it!

During the early morning on Tuesday, September 4, Station 45 crews
responded to fire in Bremerton along with crews from Bremerton Fire
Department. E45 was able to locate the family pet, Sushi, who was returned
safe and unharmed to his owners.
Kudos to this great rescue and the crews involved!

This week, the chassis began the paint process
and the pump house and the body were in
staging. Next week, the chassis may finish with
paint and the pump house should remain in
staging. The body should begin to receive trim
and wiring harnesses.
