Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends:
I am very pleased to welcome you to this 2014-15 District Conference. A District Conference is a wonderful opportunity for Rotarians and friends of Rotary to enjoy good fellowship, to be inspired by the formal program and the interaction with other Rotarians, and to celebrate the success of your District’s many activities and initiatives. I recall the wonderful experiences Corinna and I have had at such conferences and I wish you all the best as you take advantage of this special time together.
The Chinese philosopher Confucius said, “It is better to light a single candle, than to sit and curse the darkness.” This is a message that I have taken to heart. Rotarians demonstrate this philosophy everyday as they carry out projects in their communities and around the world, lighting candles of hope through theiractions.
My challenge to all of you this year is to Light Up Rotary by making Rotary fun, by growing our membership, by doing more and better projects, and by reaching more people with Rotary’s message. Light Up Rotary is our theme for the year – but it is more than our theme. It is how we live in Rotary, how we think in Rotary, how we feel, how we work. It is how we make a difference – every day,in every club, every district, and every country where we serve.
I hope you have a wonderful time during your conference and that you leave here inspired to even greater heights of service and with a renewed commitment to the work we need to do to help Rotary grow and do even more good in the world. Please Light Up Rotary!
Sincerely,
Gary C.K. HuangPresident RY 2014-15
Rotary International President’s Message
District Governor’s MessageGreetings fellow Rotarians!
Let me take this time to welcome all Rotarians in the district. Hudyaka is a celebration. But more than that, it is an opportunity to look back at the past year and recognize the service programs, projects, and public relations achievements. This is with all our hope that we continue to Light Up Rotary and strive even better for the future.
Let us allow this Hudyaka District Conference 3870 to inspire us, Rotarians, to become more involved and commited to our ideals of truth, fairness, and goodwill.
May we never forget the importance of cultivating friendships rooted in respect and fulfill our mission of “Service above Self”.
With this year’s fellowship adopting a festival theme, it is also my sincerest hope that everyone will have fun, enjoy the merriment and the wonderful company to be found in this conference.
Cheers to a better and brighter future for us all.
Sincerely,
Manuel “Manny” AlongDistrict Governor, RI District 3870 RY 2014-2015
I would like to welcome you on behalf of the officers and the general membership of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro. Let me add that we are extremely honored to be the host of the Hudyaka District Conference of District 3870.
As we extend the hand of friendship and understanding to all Rotarians in the district we would also like to say doubly welcome. We hope to meet all your needs and make each activity a memorable and hopefully a fruitful experience. We will do our best to make you feel at home as we tackle the activities and other Rotary concerns during this conference.
We appreciate the trust and confidence you have shown in giving us the opportunity to serve as host of this year’s Hudyaka District Conference. We hope our endeavors promote the ideals of Rotary and will strive to reach out to all who have the potential to become better members of the community.
The officers & members of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro have worked hard to make the Hudyaka District Conference a memorable and truly worthwhile experience to all the attendees.
Again, my warmest welcome to all of you.

Host Club President’s Message
Greetings fellow Rotarians and guests!
Welcome to the 31st District Conference! It’s an exciting time for District 3870 as we continue to grow and, despite the many changes the organization faces on both a nation-wide and global scale, remain faithful to the tenets of Rotary.
This event, aptly titled Hudyaka, is a celebration. In the next three days, we will gather our entire Rotary family from the full range of our District. We will mingle and bond over food and drink (May 7), honor individual and club achievements (May 8), and showcase talents in the spirit of friendly competition (May 9). We will toast our success in continuing to abide by the ideals of SERVICE and FELLOWSHIP set by the founders, and we will practice those ideals through the meeting and bringing together of inspired people. We should all be very proud of where we are today and excited about where we are headed.
Before I close, I’d like to thank each of your for attending the conference and bringing your “light” to the gathering. We could not have accomplished what we have without your support and leadership. You, as leaders and movers of your communities, have the vision, the knowledge, the wherewithal and the experience to LIGHT UP ROTARY and help pave our way into the future. My personal respect and thanks goes out to all of you.

Discon Chair’s Message
As Rotary International’s District 3870 holds its 31st District Conference, I am one with you in expressing the Cagayan de Oro City Government’s warm welcome, profound gratitude, and congratulations.
This conference is a tribute to the year of service you Rotarians have rendered to the people of the city and nearby areas. This district has continually lived up to the Rotary’s motto of “service above self” to help communities and the less privileged sector of so-ciety through your development programs and projects in the areas of education, health improvement and poverty alleviation.
As RI District 3870 ushers in the new Rotary year, allow me once again to extend my sincere and best wishes for another promising and fruitful Rotary year ahead.
